Of course, they send he to this empty void. It was no ordinary place to be, I can give them credit. I felt it. The pain. The suffering. There were many souls here whom were damned to this place just as I was. Atleast they leave me with bodiless beings, but it's not as if I could communicate. This place was scorching hot. Well obviously it was. There were flames that burned everywhere, lava and magma leaked everywhere. I felt no discomfort in it though, but it was not preferable. I find a place, where it seemed to hold the only tree that towered high upon a clif. I climb. The rocks were jagged and burned hotly but I cared not. Stubbornly, I kept on. Once I reached the top of the clif I immediately sought shelter beside the tree's massive roots, which drug deep into the rock. My body stung from the cuts that coated it. Blood seeped from my hands and legs. My vision grew hazier and hazier until finnally....my whole world becomes black.

Upon a high cliff, was a tree. A old, very large tree, it was the only one in the whole area of hit, desolate land. It's limbs spread to the sky, and it's roots curled somewhat out if the ground, and from the face of the cliff. And in it's expanse of branches, there was what appeared to be a creature that was half elf, and half serpentine dragon of some sort, resting upon a large branch, his lower half, a light spring green long scaled tail wrapped around the trunk, his upper half laying down, arm dangling in the air below him. His name was Efri Jun, and this tree was actually his home for the time being. He was an outcast from where he was from, forced to leave because of who and what he was.

Right now his eyes were closed, but when he hears a noise, his eyes open, and he was surprised as a man climbed up over the edge if the cliff, and made his way to the base of the tree, leaning against one if the huge roots sticking out of the ground, and passing out. The tip of his tail flicks, the white tuft of fur that was on it swishing gently. This was new.... Efri noticed that the man was injured, and cautiously descends from the tree, hanging onto the trunk still, moving so he was hovering above the man, his long silver hair falling gently around his face.

Tilting his horned head, he reaches out slowly, his long white claw-like nails touching one of the injuries, just barely, and in a matter if a few seconds, it had healed. A bell, tied to a tassled string around his neck, jingles lightly, as he moved. He repeats the process on all if the other injuries, until no bleeding cut remained. Why he was doing this, had no reason. It was in his very nature to help others, his personality would not let him look away. Once he was done, he goes back up the tree, grabs something, descends, and places it by the stranger's body, before retreating back into the branches, hidden from view. He'd left a few apples, and a thing of water, items he'd gotten on his routine searches. Staring at the man from the safety of the tree, he wonders just what had happened. No one ever came here if they had a choice...

Eris was at peace. He couldn't just hear the rippling sound of the flowing river, feel the softness of the grass beneath him and the wind gently traveling across his skin as though he were caressed by hands of the gods. He couldn't just hear the eagle's cry as it circled the tree tops and flew across the sky – but he was them. He was the flowing river, the gentle breeze and the soft grass. He was the eagle flying freely and the rocks resting at the river shore. He was indeed, for just a moment, in sync with the world around him. That was, until the suddenly felt a pair of slender arms wrap around his shoulders; the extra weight and sound of someone giggling waking his mind from it's momentary state of complete relaxation.

"Got you!"

Jade green eyes fluttered open, Eris' lips curling into the slightest of smiles. As he turned his head slightly in the direction of the voice, waves of chestnut hair came into view. Then the gentle featured face of a young girl in her mid teens. Her eyes, were a bright sky blue hue, her pink lips full and the natural blush dusting her cheeks radiating health. A radiant beauty she was indeed – his younger sister. "I suppose you did..." he agreed in a soft voice, frowning as he felt her weight behind lifted from his shoulders. Before he knew it, she was in front of him.

"The village Chief wants to see you. I think it's time..." trailing off, a look of sadness crossed her features, "....do you really have to leave?" she asked quietly, averting his gaze. "I-I mean, it's a long journey a-and it's dangerous and-"

Eris who'd already gotten on his feet, gently placed his hand on her head and patted it affectionately. Words weren't needed. His actions spoke legions. Eris would be back – hopefully soon. Yet there was no doubt that he had to go. "I promise," he said softly, earning a sad but hopeful gaze from his younger sister. She took a moment to wipe the tears threatening to fall, then nodded her head and started leading the way. Eris followed suit.

Ares was anxious, terrified, stressed, and most of all, sad; but he couldn't show those emotions, not to his friends, not to his family, not to anyone. He could only revel in his negativity and mourn on his own, because he was taught from a young age that a man never lost control in front of others, especially not one that was going to be chief. It was ironic really, being named after a war god when he wasn't even half of his own name. Being a man of nature, Ares was usually able to tune into nature's sounds anywhere. Now, he couldn't even hear the chirping of a bird.

As he sat on his cot, staring one last time at what was once his, he sincerely felt his life flash right before his eyes. Once he left this room, this village, those memories were going to be the only things that were important enough to remind him of home, to keep him sane. Despite knowing that this decision was what was best for his village, the young man couldn't help but want to be selfish for once. He gave and he gave, and he got and he got, but rarely was anything enough. What he received was usually materialistic, and albeit he was grateful, in the long term the item became just a dust collector in his room. Now, he was giving his life away to some princess he didn't even know.

Soft brown eyes closed, and a lean body felt back onto the comfortable cot, trying to forget everything even for just a little while. Ares wanted to just relax and sleep away his troubles, but of course, it would never happen. All too soon, a male servant came in his quarters bearing his items—Ares could here the slightly labored breathing—most likely to announce that his escort was here to take him to what was to be his new home in a couple of weeks and that it was time to leave.

Are had heard of this escort of his. The man was deemed as the most powerful warrior in all of the village, even more so than Ares' father, which was certainly a feat. He never knew the man though, except in name.

What was it again? Ah yes, Eris.

With a low sigh, the male moved up from his cot and stared at the servant waiting for his orders. He knew his face left much to desire when it came to showing his true emotions, but his eyes always were true. He just hoped they didn't give away too much. Giving the other male barely there smile, Ares got up from his bed and sauntered out first, heading for the main quarters where he was to see his family before his departure and where his escort was to be. He had wanted to give his bedroom, the one that was with him for all of his twenty years, one last look, but couldn't bring himself to do so. It would most likely result in a abundance of tears that he knew he could never shed in another's presence.

Ah how beautiful her voice was--that mother of mine. She left me in awe; to bask in her vibrance. That frail yet, oh so gentle hand of hers, strokes my head, letting my hair run through its skinny fingers. My mother's song sung of happiness and love and my heart thumped against my chest, matching the song's lyrics. My mother smiles; I smile. But then her tranquil features twisted in to ones of agony and dispair. She cried. She cried and I tried to reach her but my attempts were to no avail. And right before my eyes...she bursts into an radiant flame...

I awoke , feeling a strong chill through out my body. It was a dream. Just a dream. I wipe away at my sweat covered face. And when I move my hands away, all my cuts and bruises were gone as if they have left with the night. Up on my feet, I look for any signs of there being anyone else. No one. I saw no one. I must be seeing illusions, that has to be it. I've been starved of my power and ripped from my shrine, of course my death would begin to show itself.

My death. I guess death is the only companion I have in this empty void. So if that is what it comes to I must yeild to fate and abide for what it has for me.

He'd been dozing, as was his usual, when Efri hears something stirring at the base of the tree. His eyes open, and he looks down from the branch he was resting upon. Long tail wrapped securely around the trunk of the tree, even if he'd gone to sleep, he would not have fallen. But he had not, no, the entire time that had passed, Efri had been watching the man, until recently, when he could no longer keep his eyes open, deciding to rest for a short while.

And now the newcomer had awoken, now standing and looking around. Efri wondered what he was searching for. Descending a few feet, but still staying out of sight, he gazes upon the man, tilting his head in curiosity. If he had been more bold, Efri would have shown himself, but he was not. Despite having dragon blood in him, one of the feircest beings imaginable, Efri was not brave, or courageous. No, he was quite the opposite. Shy, timid, and cautious, he kept to himself, but he was not to be mistaken as cowardly.

Picking an apple from a hole in the tree that held several of Efri's belongings, he drops it down from where he was, the fruit landing with a soft thumping sound, and rolling until it came to a stop at the stranger's foot, bumping off of it lightly. With wide eyes, he wonders what would happen, and as he looked upon the scene below him, he reaches for another piece of the only fruit he was able to find on his searches of the land, and lets it fall from his hand to the ground below.
