His emotional detachment, along with his piloting skills and intelligence has resulted in him being a tactical savant. He is often criticized for not being able to communicate effectively during battle. He values people not by rank, history, nor affiliation, but by utility. He is seen as emotionless. Smiles are a rare occurrence, but his humorous nature is a normal trait seen in him by the people close to him, though surprising to strangers.

Soon after, one of his friends, Okisuke Mikuni, died while trying to save his sister from the enemy Kataphrakt, Nilokeras. Despite seeing one of his friends die, he remained calm and informed everyone about the tragedy. It was then, that he decided to join the battlefield against the Vers Empire.

Slaine leaned back in his seat, his fighter machine was set on autopilot so he didn't have to worry about crashing into anything, and took the free time to close his eyes. What am I doing? He thought, opening his eyes so look through his glass at the blue water of the ocean that was below him. Thinking back he remembered when he first told the princess about the ocean and the sky, and how they are blue because they reflect light. When in all realness he had no idea why they were blue, other than just because they were. He told the princess all kinds of things to try and impress her, all he had ever wanted was her attention. She was a princess, and beautiful so it was clear that she would never feel for him what he felt for her, but if he could just be by her side and protect her then that would be enough. Clenching his teeth in, he readjusted his coordinates and increased the speed. He would find her, and he would save her.

Almost there, he was almost there in the distance he could see a boat, which he could only assume she was on, probably being used against her will. Cursing softly he watched as one of the Martians was attacking the boat. "That is hardly fair, you have advanced tech and they have basically has-mat suits." He murmured softly as he watched a huge fist bash through the side of the boat. I just want peace. The princess voice echo'd through his mind, cursing softly, it became clear that he was going to have to help save the enemy. Adjusting his controls, he flew straight above where the vars was attacking from and suddenly stalled out so that he could straw straight down, shooting straight at one of the fists as he did. The extra speed from the free fall helped to knock one of the huge fists off of balance so that it narrowly missed running into one of the armored fighters on the ship.another huge first came at him from the side and he narrowly avoided it, it managed to clip his wing just slightly, causing him to spin uncontrollably for a moment before he was able to read just himself. Coming to a stop just above the boat he was prepared to defend it with his life.

"That's..."

Kaizuka Inaho has never believed in miracles. Miracles were illogical and there was always a reason, scientific or not, for something to happen. He almost doubted that fact once though. In fact, it was just a second ago that the moment he had ran out of his ammo, was the moment that he had been saved by a so-called miracle. Reloading took time, and time was what he didn't have. He's also never been the type to marvel at something in amazement, as he did with his savior. It was quite obvious that the carrier was of a Martian's, which was in fact, his enemy.

"Enemy reinforcements?"

"But, it attacked the enemy attack."

"There's infighting?"

"Who knows? They might just be fighting over who gets the first kill."

However, judging one based on utility rather than history, personality, and affiliation had always been a qualified trait of his.

"Either one is fine. Even if the enemy of one’s enemy isn't one’s friend, he may still be useful."

As he turned towards the otherwise recognizable enemy kataphrakt, he readied his own kat, reloading his HE ammo and willing to fire at any given moment.

The setting sun made the sky quite beautiful. Even when they were in a war, the loud explosions, gunfire, and increasing bloodshed did nothing to rid the world of its beauty. Miss Asseylum had always told him that she wanted world peace. Even if the Martians and Terrans didn't agree with one another, just mutual toleration was fine. She loved the earth, and she loved her home, the Vers Empire on Mars. It was rare to find anyone with the same mindset like hers, just wanting for everything negative to just stop. It was naive in its own way, but quite courageous in another way.

Inaho respected that. He wanted to help her, but just helping her would not protect her.

The thoughts that were settling in his own mind did nothing to bring him away from the battlefield. He stared at the Martian fighter, who was coming to a stop before the UES Wadatsumi. His eyes were brought away from the onyx plane as his instincts moved them towards the oncoming onslaughts of fists heading straight for his 'savior.'

Bullets were fired out of his own gun. They were straight on point, and destroyed two of the metal fists before they had reached their target.

"What clan does this interloper belong to?!" The red headed woman cursed out, her eyes narrowing in a grimace as she glared over at the hovering fighter, judging off his ship the fighter should have been aided her, not standing in the way.

Slaine cursed softly as he felt his entire craft rock with the force of the fists that just narrowly zoomed past him, he had heard of this woman before, and knew how extreme her combat style was, and how hard she was to beat for that matter. Reaching down he double checked that the light for his evacuation was green, and it his relief it was, if things got bad he would just have to bail out of his fighter.

"This area has already been laid claim to by the Femieanne!" There was a short pause before she continued again, "I will not tolerate you taking liberties here!" As she spoke, her kataphrakt was quickly reassembling itself, the fists that had previously been shot now safely back in there appropriate slots. Only after the kataphrakt was ready to resume battle, did she call out, "Go, My Messangers!"Four of the fists quickly disengaged themselves and after a short stall, there rockets kicked in and upwards they shot, aiming straight for Slaine.

Slaine had not seen the kataphrakt shoot off the fists, but he could hear them shooting towards him as they ripped threw the air. Gritting his teeth together, he glanced over his left shoulder to see them coming straight for him. Accelerating upwards he attempted to serpentine then, trying to glide behind them, or around them, anything to get them off of his tail. However it was to no avail, because they relentlessly pursued him. Cursing softly, he turned his raft upside now, letting out a yell as he did so at the rage, fear, and frustration that were currently mixing inside of him. Reaching over, he engaged his emergency rockets, which quickly dropped down. Pulling back suddenly, he jammed the rockets and shot straight upwards, narrowly avoiding collision with one of the fists. The strain of wiping around so quickly was getting to him, and he quickly felt a sense of dread in his stomach as he got whip lash from his last stunt. Stunned for a moment, he found it difficult to keep his eyes open, and his hands slipped from the controls. The rockets cutting off and he quickly began to plummet downwards, alarms and warnings were ringing all around him but he just simply could not tear his eyes open as he struggled to gather his bearings.

Hearing a sudden wish of air behind him alerted him of how close the fists were to him, struggling, he wrenched his eyes open just as an explosion behind him rocketed his ship further downward, however, this was the chance he needed. Gripping the gears once again, he guided the ship back upwards, looking out the side of his window, his gaze bore straight down to what looked like a Terran, Orange fighter. He saved me? The blonde wondered slightly, questioning the mans motives almost immediately.

"Botis' fingers! He will pay!" The red headed woman once more shouted, as the fists redirected there target and were now aiming at the boat. By the time Slaine had properly regained control of his craft and himself, he saw that the ship was heading for safety in a what looked life a nearby cave. His gaze was once again pulled by the Orange kataphrakt, bringing him up on his screen, he glanced down at it and spoke, "What does that Orange kataphrakt have up its sleeve?"After a few hours of constant dodging, and firing, it was already dark and the fists were still coming at them, full force, Slaine cursed softly, knowing that something had to be done before he and the Terrans ran out of ammunition. Without being completely sure what he was doing, he turned and flew straight for the Orange kataphrakt, disengaging his attachment cargo gear, he slowed down slightly, hoping beyond hope that the Terran would know what to do.

"Control! Open the well dock!"

The plan was to let the enemy kataphrakt to fire at the cliff and take advantage of the fact that it must fire from a distance in order for the fists to accelerate fast enough to break through the rock. At a great distance, nudging the fist with sound waves even by a small angle will throw it off course. And to do that, Inaho needed to have the well dock opened, having it opened would allow for the hollowness of the metal box to conduct enough sonorous waves to throw the fists off balance as he shoots.

The scanner inside the orange kataphrakt's hub kept its robotic eyes on the twin fists accelerating towards the ship, as the young man did. The kat positioned itself in front of the dock, waiting for the perfect chance to fire at the incoming projectiles.

"Cover your ears!", he demanded to the people inside the dock.

The sudden bursting of bullets only allowed for resounding ringing to be heard through the ears. Although the male inside the mecha heard it to, as he was the one that was causing it, it didn't seem to faze him one bit.

One...

Two...

Three, four, five shots fired and one fist was succumbed with water, while the other left a gaping hole in the cliff behind them. The ship's controllers noticed their chance at safety, and took it. Inaho however, didn't. Inaho began moving his kataphrakt towards the edge of the ship, and leaped off, landing on the floating makeshift bridge, surprising his two female companions in the process.

He needed to defeat the Ashura, head on, for the sake of his friends.

"Nao, what do you think you're doing? Don't run off like that," his sister, Yuki, scolded.

"I could say the same to you, Yuki. Who's defending the ship?", he flatly retaliated.

"Now listen here, you..."

His sister definitely cared too much about his well-being. But... it wasn't bad.

As they slowed down to a stop, the red-eyed male gazed at the enemy positioned on top of the cliff. It was still, but Inaho knew that it wouldn't be for any longer.

All right, now let's deal with that Ashura over there.

***

"Direct hit! Next, right three mil!"

"Roger."

For what it's worth, these fists were resilient. They could be destroyed, but not through brute force; accuracy and timing were needed.

To attack the assault ship, it has to break through all that rock. To increase their impact, they have to increase their speed.

This was all physics and tactics and luckily, Inaho was best at that. As he aimed towards the moving object, the hand on his kat's handle moved delicately and slowly, trying to find the precision that he needed to have a direct hit.

To accelerate using a rocket, you have to have distance. If the distance is far enough, throw off the angle just a little, and it'll miss the mark by a lot.

"Enemy unit, 4'o clock! Heading this way!"

But, it wasn't a problem. Inaho knew, he knew that the Martian that his people so harshly resented, albeit with reason, was going to cover them. He might have had an ulterior motive for doing so, but as of now, he was useful; at least in Inaho's eyes. The flying fist became a diving flop as the impact from the Martian plane's bullet hit the projectile. The enemy didn't seem to have any other attacks besides the one it continuously used, the fists. It must have meant that the hands were its only weapons.

The Martian plane had begun to glide over to where Inaho was, opening the carrier's platform in the process, and he was quick in knowing what the person had wanted. Instead of being a sitting duck on the ground, he was more useful in the air. His sister would probably have a fit once she knew what he had wanted to accomplish.

"Cover us.", he nonchalantly said to no one in particular and ran off, leaving the two women standing there shocked at his actions. He didn't care that he was going to work with a Martian. Martian or not, anyone could be an enemy. All of Earth wasn't his ally, just like all of Mars wasn't his enemy. Inaho wasn't interested in the ideals of his people, or the anger and hatred that they produced in order to tilt the war in their favor. These emotions were useless and the ideals were illogical, so he wouldn't hate anyone just because they were Martian. He would be the judge in who was his enemy.

The onyx carrier descended to a decent height, allowing for his own machine to jump and place itself on the platform. He opened the contact channel, to give each other the chance to speak to one another. It didn't allow for face contact, just voice contact.

"Opening contact channel. I'll be quick. What are you armed with?"

Slaine continued to glance over his shoulder, hoping that if he could just glare hard enough, he could get it through the Terrans head what he wanted him to do. His shoulders immediately relaxed when he saw the other begin to move, running straight towards his ship. Refocusing when he knew the Terran was in sync with him, he quickly reached forward and flipped on his boosters, just as the orange suited Terran jumped up onto his carrier platform. Looking back at the enemy, he knew he was going to have to readjust them to do any good, so he carefully pulled up so the fighter swooped up. He would use the large machines gravity to keep him in place, but it would be difficult maneuvering as freely as he could if he was alone. He looked at the blanket display screen as the other spoke.

"I have about 20 howitzer rounds. And you?" Was his response after he checked his equipment levels, it would have been better if he had more, but his fighter specialized in speed and agility.

Which meant it could not hold to much heavy equipment. He had to admit, considering he was now hauling around a massive Terran, he found this a bit ironic. He could hear a bit of interference on the terrans end but remained silent.

"I have about 20 howitzer rounds. And you?"

Inaho noticed that, even through the slight, scratchy interference in their connection, the male's voice seemed young, maybe even around his age. Despite knowing that the man that he was talking to now could try and succeed in killing him at any given moment, Inaho wanted to trust him; at least for now. Again, not all Martians were enemies as not all Terrans were allies, but the person controlling the carrier could be either of those; enemy or ally, black or white. Right now, all Inaho saw was the usefulness that would derive from Bat.

Bat seemed like a good nickname. He didn't want to keep saying the man, the man all the time, so a nickname such as this would suffice. Plus, the carrier looked like a bat. People around him would say that he was too emotionless and lifeless, like the kataphrakt that he operated, but his sense of humor was indeed a trait that he possessed though it rarely came out.

"9 HE rounds, then I'm dry.", he replied not a moment after.

Terran technology could not compare to Martian technology, but at the very least, they needed to give the kats more ammo capacity. A different voice boomed through his connection, a more feminine one then what was earlier.

"Don't do it, Nao! That's a Martian-."

"Sorry, Yuki. We'll talk later."

He'll deal with the consequences later, however dire they may be. But knowing Yuki, she would be too overprotective to unleash even the smallest slap to his face.

"9 HE rounds, then I'm dry."He heard the other respond after a moment of deliberation.

Slaine was silent for a moment before he responded, "The Hellas' fists increase their hardness by becoming a single, giant molecule." His eyes narrowed at the enemy machine before continuing, "No bullet can destroy them."

"The Hellas' fists increase their hardness by becoming a single, giant molecule. No bullet can destroy them."

"No, one of the fists was destroyed," Inaho replied monotonously.

The young male began searching through his kataphrakt's monitor, looking for images that he had taken while in combat with the enemy kat. One image showed one of Hellas', as Bat had called it, fists were destroyed by Inaho's bullet. By taking advantage of the fist's weakness, its fingers, the projectile was ruined in a matter of seconds.

"The molecular structure probably reverts when their fingers move." He continued his explanation of how he easily exploited the fist's weakness.

Inaho removed his attention and fingers from the monitor, and turned it back towards the control center of his kat, readying for combat and his partnership with the Martian.

"Patch me into the signal of your stabilizers."

Inaho most definitely knew that they used different standards, as Bat's carrier was of Martian technology, but by converting it to fit his kat's own standards, they would function just fine.

"Don't worry about the different standards. I'll convert it."

Inaho began to notice the onslaught of fists heading straight in their direction. It was all up to Bat to maneuver them away from the projectiles and Inaho's role was to attack precisely as possible.

"Here it comes, Bat!"

Inaho disconnected the static screens from his contact channel, leaving just their voices for contact. He did not feel bad for leaving Bat no room to cut in or speak. Well... maybe just a little.

Slaine heard the others explanation and sat forward in his seat slightly, getting a naked look at one of the fists that zoomed past them at a speed so fast that that air seemed to crack and bend around it. He was right, if those fingers wanted to move they could not be as solid as a hard plate, other wise there would be no way for them to be mobile. So that was it. The enemy was from where he considered to be home, the place where he had practically grown up even if he was not born there. Still, this terrain had managed to figure out there weakness and execute a plan before him, the idea of it brought a feeling of jealousy to his stomach. Most terrains seemed dense to him, throwing out there fighters one after the other with the same strategy but hoping for a different end result. But somehow, he knew this was must be different.

"Bat?" His eyes widened slightly at the name he was called, then again, it was not like he had any intentions of giving some terrain his real name. There was no time for him to contest the name though, he heard the familiar sound of an approaching first and quickly adjusted the controls in his hands accordingly to make sure he had full control. If the Terrain was going to hit it, then Slaine couldn't be moving around to much, which meant he had to put all of his trust into someone he neither knew nor liked. To his vast surprise, he heard an explosion and felt his small craft rocket a bit from the force of it. Did he really get it? In one shot?

It became clear that he was going to have to rely on this Terrain, like it or not. Looking forward, he left the fists to the Orange Kataphrakt and focused on just keeping them in the air and moving at a safe speed. Within seconds he felt another explosion just behind them and let out a curse as he adjusted them to keep the explosion from knocking them off balance. The screen in front of him came up and displayed two more on the radar.

"Two more coming in from aft!" He called out to the Terrain, waiting for his next move.

In the distance, Inaho could see two more projectiles headed for them at a speed that meant trouble, if he didn't think of anything. As they got closer and closer, he began to notice that since they were so close, he could one to give an advantage over the other one. Bat seemed to have no problem letting him take the reins. Well, maybe he did have a problem, but it didn't matter at this point.

The fists came close enough for the wire in his gun to securely attach itself to one of them. Then, with just a subtle side to side movement from the carrier, one fist simply hit the other, destroying it in the process. The jerking movement of one of the fingers makes the fists vulnerable and thus creates an explosion when it crashes into the other. As intimidating as these things may be, they're all bark and no bite. There were too many weaknesses lying around and it was too easy for Inaho to notice them. The other one also exploded once Inaho had landed a precise shot from behind, where there was no armor.

Their tails have no armor, which means their engines are also vulnerable.

Through the contact channel, Inaho could hear a hurried, slightly boyish, yet weirdly masculine voice calling out.

"Two more coming in from aft!"

"Course one-seven-five. Fly parallel to the coast."

Yuki and Inko will go on the offensive at the remaining two fists.

"Yuki, do you copy?"

"You only remember you have teammates when you need help. Hold that course!"

Did he? He hadn't noticed.

Bat continued that course as he should, allowing for the girls to fire as necessary. In the end, hitting the tails and destroying them both at approximately the same time. Inaho sincerely thought that that was the end of flying projectiles wanting to smash his face in.

He was wrong. The core of it all, the core of the fists, had decided to turn itself into a flying projectile, sporting a pretty unnatural look in the process. Then again, it was Martian technology, they were all outlandish.

"What is that?!"

Slaine didn't want to risk glancing behind him to see the outcome of the two other fists, but a familiar vibration shook the air and he could only assume that somehow the two Kataphrakt on the ground had somehow managed to hit them. Right, are we in the clear then? He wondered to himself, and almost as though the enemy were answering, he watched the core disengage and then transform itself. Even though he considered himself a Martian, he was just as surprised as he was sure the Terrains were. His eyes didn't leave the core as he watch it fly, up, up, up.

"What is that?!" He heard the Orange Kataphrakt fighter curse out, only then did Slaine break his concentrate gaze on the core to fire back an annoyed response, "I don't know either! Try to hit it with your gun, i'm to heavy with you aboard to try and dodge it!" He called out, knowing full well that it wasn't the Terrains fault how heavy his Kataphrakt was, but he just couldn't contain his aggravation. Seeing the thing speed through the hair, he knew they were in trouble. Reaching up, he flipped on the boosters and felt the entire fighter lurch forward with new found speed.

"I don't know either! Try to hit it with your gun, I'm to heavy with you aboard to try and dodge it!"

Gun? That thing was definitely too big to hit with a gun. Even if he had wanted to use it to throw off its trajectory, a thing that big would make it extremely difficult to have it be felled with a rifle. What was most frustrating was that, he couldn't do anything about it. This goes to show how weak humans are; weak to emotions, weak to themselves, weak to fear.

"It's too big for a rifle!"

In the distance, Inaho could see the 'whatever-it-is' gaining distance, and it was currently accelerating straight for them. He knew then, that they were in trouble. The carrier also gained speed, but with his kataphrakt on board, it was difficult to gain anymore speed. The thing is, agility and mobility was what Bat needed, but it was also what he didn't have.

Too big for a rifle? The fact was disregarded at this point.

Fine.

As the Martian kataphrakt got closer, Inaho's gun was the only thing able enough to protect them. Bullets began to shoot out of his kat's gun, not missing, but not denting the Martian's kat either. Bat's carrier seemed to have desperately trying to gain more speed, while avoiding the outlandish projectile in the process, but none of it seemed to work. Inaho's machine was simply too heavy. Frustration began to overwhelm the red-eyed male—with maybe a bit a fear for their lives mixed in too. What his outer expression showed was calmness, what he felt was helplessness, and what he said was... different.

"It's almost on us, Bat!"

  • 3 months later...

Slains eyes widened as the situation they were in finally sunk in, they could seriously die right now, and for what? For all he knew, the princess was not even on that ship anymore. So was he really willing to die for a bunch of earthlings and only the possibility of the princesses well being? Still, thinking back on it, he remembered how much it had torn him apart when he first heard about her death, how everything seemed to loose it's meaning. So he really had no choice other than to cling to any possibility of being able to see her again, he had no other option. Bright blue eyes narrowed slightly as he watched another onslaught of fists come straight at them, he was only able to avoice collision with them by tilting slightly to the side, using the kataphrakt he was carryings weight as a sort of ancor to allow the ship to veer out of the fists way.

They had to act, and they had to act now.

"Orange, i'm going to have to ram it. If we can hit it hard enough then we will be able to knock it's system out of commission for a few seconds. The main body won't be able to send out the signals to the fists. When it's system is out, you are going to have to shoot it straight on, but my system will probably be out as well from the collision. So you will have to do it while we fall, do you think you can do it? If you don't, then everyone on that ship will die."

The blonde haired boy sucked in his breath as he waited for the others response, already lining his kataphrakt up so that he could charge it right towards the enemy.

Calculations were created in his mind as he processed the gravity of his Martian friend's words, before his red-hued eyes widened just a fraction at the sight of enemy gaining even more distance on them. Though the situation was one that would have inevitable panic ensuing, Inaho couldn't afford to. Plus, he had no desire to. His lips thinned out in the calmest of fashions, as he stilled his body while he inhaled in a deep breath. Darkened red eyes lost every ounce of fear, his grip tightening on his controls. His voice came out chilling and void of all interfering negative emotions as he replied to Bat's suggestion and command.

"Go ahead, I'm ready."

Everyone's life was at stake. There was no point in being indecisive if only one choice would lead to the safety of his companions.

"Don't die now, Bat," he quipped amused, a phantom of a smirk etching itself upon his ample lips.

  • 2 weeks later...

Slain couldn't help but roll his eyes at the others comment, before muttering out in a rather annoyed manner, "Oh, yes. Because dying was certainly on my list of things to do today. Reaching over, he began to power up his machine, he could do this, that was not the question, the question was could he do this and live. Closing his eyes for a moment, he let out a low breath as he gathered his thoughts. No, there was no question about it, he would do it, and he would see his princess again. Reaching over, he pressed his hand to the scanner to over ride the saftey procautions before reaching for the reaving stear.

"Alright, Orange, he we go." With his last word, he pressed up on the gear and both and the other, jolted forward at a neck breaking speed.
