While Makoto was battering, he listened carefully to Haruka's instructions taken by reading. Makoto felt pressured by then, his eyebrows knitted slightly due to the slow catch on of his brain. "D-Do I have to do all of those on my own?" Makoto asked, his voice shook which showed how worried he was. It was his first time after all so if he does all of those, there'll be at least 80% fail rate of the Taiyaki cakes. Peeking a little bit at Haru, his worry actually eased a little bit. It was actually fun when he thinks of the other side.

"I'll help set the pan up for you." Haruka said, getting up from the computer chair to hoist the heavy pan up to the stovetop. Turning the heat to medium, he then proceeded to spread the oil on both sides and wait for Makoto to pour the batter into it. He had the red bean paste in the pocket of his apron, ready to scoop out into the batter once it was in.

"Okay, Haru." It was already Makoto's cue to pour the battered mixture when Haruka stated that he'll prepare the pan. When he saw Haruka pouring the oil on the Taiyaki pan, he waited for a minute in order for the oil to completely spread on the pan and then he poured the batter carefully to avoid spilling even just the smallest amount.

Haruka scooped the red bean paste into the batter, gently pouring some more batter over the bean paste to cover it. After checking to see that they were doing everything right, Haruka closed the pan, turning it over carefully. After a short bit, he turned the heat to medium low and flipped again. He kept flipping until about 3.5 minutes in, when he checked and saw that they were golden brown on both sides. Carefully taking the two pastries out, he put them on a cooling rack and retrieved some kitchen scissors.

"Do you want to trim the edges?" he asked.

"Sure." Makoto answered. Trimming was easy, since it only involves cutting or maybe tearing off any rough excess edges from the Taiyaki. He saw his mother and siblings make Taiyaki two days before his siblings' school festival as a practice, so he could somehow remember how it has to be done. He grabbed the scissors and made sure that the pastries weren't that hot, and when he felt that the pastries weren't that hot enough to burn his skin, he carefully trimmed the edges.

Haruka watched as Makoto cut the edges from the pastries and set two plates down. Even he had to admit that the aroma was getting to him. He was a little sad that it was almost over, but he was happy to have spent the time with Makoto. They still had the afternoon to be together, and Haruka wanted to go back to Makoto's anyway, so he figured they would still be together longer. He took one of the finished pastries from Makoto and sat down at the table.

"We should try them out to see how we did." He said. "Do you want anything to drink?"

Seeing that Haruka didn't gave out a violent reaction about Makoto's trimming, Makoto felt relieved. He wants to impress Haruka so much and see his bestfriend feel all that proud for him. Haruka was really the stoic type who almost looked like he doesn't really give a damn anymore, but that's not true at all. If there's only one person who could sense Haruka's hidden feelings, it might be Makoto himself. Makoto could feel the dissatisfied look on Haruka's face, as if telling him that it all ended too fast.

"I want a tea then." Makoto answered as he sat on one of the counter's wooden chairs. Of course he would want to try the Taiyaki out. Afterall, it was the first time he ever baked something with Haruka. It was enough for a reason.

Haruka took a teapot out of the cabinet and filled the filter with tea leaves. He also poured some boiling water into the pot itself, letting the tea brew for a little before taking the pot and some cups over for Makoto and himself. If Makoto had read him correctly, Haruka asked about drinks to just lengthen their time together. He knew full well that he would be going to Makoto's later, but he really felt most comfortable when Makoto was with him in his own home. He wasn't a recluse or anything like that; in fact, he really wanted to come out of his shell for Makoto. However, it was simply a matter of preference.

"The tea's ready." Haruka said, pouring Makoto a cup before serving himself. "Let's eat."

While waiting for the tea, Makoto eyed Haruka's back well as the said male prepared the tea. Makoto couldn't help but smile when he thought of all the things that they did a while ago. It was truly fun, and for some reason, he was relieved that Rei, Nagisa, and Rin weren't there. Sure, everything will even be more fun when the group is together, but for some reason, Makoto wanted to only be with Haruka at the moment. It was as if... he was getting selfish to share Haruka with the others.

Thinking of it that way, Makoto immediately blushed. He thought that it was just a stupid idea. But in all honesty, he wasn't aware of how he feels towards Haruka, and it may be too early for Makoto to conclude something about their relationship together. Makoto's confused mind stopped confusing itself even further when Haruka mentioned that the tea is ready. Makoto immediately wore his usual smile to avoid Haruka noticing that he was looking at him just a while ago. "Thank you, Haru." He thanked the other male and placed the plate with the Taiyaki on it at the center of the table.

"You're welcome." Haruka said. He then took one of the pastries and took a bite. He chewed on it thoughtfully for a bit, trying to taste the flavor as best as he could. He swallowed it pretty easily, though he would do so with almost any food he ate. Sipping the tea carefully after that first bite, his face remained perpetually cool and collected.

"It's good." he said. "I think it might sell well."

Makoto felt glad that Haruka found the pastry's taste good. Afterall, Makoto was the one who had beaten the ingredients together. If he did it wrongly, then the taste would surely go bad. Makoto immediately sliced a portion of the Taiyaki and savored the piece. It was truly good. Haruka wasn't bluffing nor lying. "It is. I'm glad it turned out well." Makoto answered with a relieved smiled. First attempts usually fail, but for them to actually pull of something good was a great achievement.

"I can't wait to sell more of these." Makoto also added in reply to Haruka's statement.

Haruka gave Makoto one of his rare smiles. It was so small that the normal observer wouldn't even call it a smile. Only Makoto would really notice it since it was meant for him. Haruka loved spending time with his friend like this, eating homemade food with a good cup of tea in the sanctity of his own home. Days like these were rare during the school year since they were always practicing. He wished these moments would last forever, but he knew otherwise after looking outside. The sky was a radiant orange, signifying the end of the day and the beginning of night. He didn't want the day to be over. He wanted to stay with Makoto longer. He turned back to his friend, who seemed to still be eating. He took another bite and poured himself another cup of lukewarm tea.

"Makoto," he began, but paused for a little. He felt a little unfamiliar with the emotion of nervousness since he didn't often experience it, but like any other emotion, it was likely that Makoto would pick up the subtle visual cues. "Can I stay at your place tonight?"

Seeing the stoic blue-eyed man broke out a tiny smile, Makoto couldn't help but blush. He didn't know for what reason, but Haruka's smile was so warm that it might have infected Makoto's insides too. It was truly a rarity to see Haruka's lips form a sweet curve, and comparing Makoto to the others, it's always Makoto who witnesses the beautiful rarity. Makoto's blush faded as soon as he gently smiled. Seeing Haruka smile made Makoto smile too. It felt like Haruka was sucking him onto it.

Taking the last sip of his tea, Makoto listened carefully when Haruka called his name. When he put the cup down, he turned his gaze into Haruka and waited for the other's following sentence. Haruka seemed to have paused, and Makoto patiently waited, until Haruka asked "Can I stay at your place tonight?" Makoto felt dumbfounded. Haruka never asked for him to let him stay at his place. Rather, it was always Makoto who invites Haruka and Haruka agreed then. Due to the gladness he felt, Makoto immediately grabbed both of Haruka's hands, gripping it tightly as he nodded excitedly. "Of course you can!"

Haruka's face returned to its previously emotionless state. A more obvious shade of red dusted his features this time around, though. He could hide it as a fever with anyone else, but probably not Makoto. Haruka found that it took quite a bit of courage to ask Makoto that very question. He wasn't sure what he was afraid of, but he didn't feel afraid now. Getting up, he took their dirty dishes away and washed them himself.

"Don't forget the pan. We'll need it for tomorrow." he said. "Also, we'll need to go shopping for our ingredients early."

Makoto got swept away by Haruka's request that he immediately blushed when he noticed how he was gripping the other man. Enthusiasm paved Makoto's way that he really didn't get aware of how he responded to Haruka. Cheeks flushing out of embarrassment, Makoto directly let go of Haruka's hands. "S-Sorry." Makoto uttered, bowing his head down as he laughed awkwardly.

Makoto nodded as Haruka told him to bring the pan again. The embarrassing thing he just did is already forgotten. Makoto helped out cleaning the dirty dishes. "Let me wash these instead." Makoto offered, pointing at the dishes in the sink area. Makoto just had to, as he is that kind of guy.

Haruka let Makoto wash the dishes. If he didn't mind doing that, good for him. Haruka didn't like doing it, but would do so if asked. Makoto's response didn't cause any external reactions, but inside, Haruka was bursting with happiness. He had been meaning to ask Makoto that for a long time since it was always Makoto asking to stay at his place. Now that he reciprocated the action, he felt like he was being a better friend. When Makoto pulled away, Haruka stood up from his seat. He walked over and printed the recipes they made over the course of the two days they spent cooking. Of course he made a mental note to get mackerel as well.

"When do you want us to leave for your house?" Haruka asked.

Makoto is good with household chores. But when he's asked for his specialty, his answer will totally be washing the dishes. Ran and Ren also do the household chores, but considering that they're still kids, they're pretty much a failure of doing such things and when they wash the dishes, there's always at least 2-3 plates that would break. Because of that, even as a boy, Makoto learned how to handle the chores well and thus, the very housewife-like Makoto Tachibana was born.

Makoto was actually smiling when he was washing the dishes. The thought of Haruka coming into his house made him feel all so warm inside. It had been such a long time, and it made him feel the same emotion where Haruka went to his house for the first time which, was like, ages ago. Wiping the dishes with a clean, dry towel, he heard Haruka ask something.

"I'm almost done with drying the dishes so maybe we could go after." Makoto answered, flashing a very excited smile.
