volcano_eruption_cataclysm_accident_lava_smoke_birds_art_48377_1920x1200.jpg

The god looked down at the land that these humans so desperately wished to preserve and had to frown in confusion. The land was small and it was constantly plagued with calamity and the desolation of war. The god just didn't understand why the people of the land wanted him to protect them. He looked down as one human dared to intrude inside his volcano. It wasn't that the god hated them, he just didn't want them to disturb his peace. If he protected the land it would mean that he would officially enter the war between the gods. And he really didn't want to do that if he could do anything against it.

He tilted his head in silent question as the human dropped something near his toes. All gods were gigantic after all. He took a closer look and had to wonder if these humans were just plain stupid. What could he possibly want a baby for? He sighed as he noticed that the human who brought the child was sobbing, although it was concealed perfectly.

"Very well." The god's booming voice shook the very fabric of the earth where the volcano stood. "Do take this child. It is of no use to me."

Then the volcano suddenly erupted in a horrible display of the god's power. The lava flow encircled the land, so that outsiders had no other choice but to enter the mouth of the crescent land that had been formed in just the span of a few seconds. Then the crescent land grew and turned into towering mountains, the volcano at its' center.

The god grew weary, so he decided to sleep. And with the land protected, he just hoped that the humans that he now protected weren't as dim as he first thought them to be. Then the god slept inside a pillar of lava in the depths of the volcano that now towered behind the crescent land.

A yawn was heard coming from a blonde haired young male who was staring outside of the car window. His blue eyes watched the trees pass on by a bored look crossed over his face. It was summer break which meant... Coming home. He frowned lightly. The man sitting next to him was on a head set chatting away. His father never seemed to put the phone down. Keria groaned lowly, god how he wished his father would stop talking on his phone. After what seemed like forever he was finally home.

In the distance he saw the massive volcano standing tall and proud. He wondered why his parents built their home in the middle of no-where. Once the car came to a halt he chanced a glance over at his father and saw him smiling at him. "Well... The trip from the airport was fun..." He gave a light laugh before he parked his car and unbuckled his seat belt. "Your mother is thrilled that your spending summer break with us." The blonde said nothing but unbuckled his own seat belt and opened his door. "Keira... Please... say something..." His father exited out of the car as well. He stared at his son walking away from the car without so much as a word.

Keira hated coming back here... He felt so isolated. He sighed once more as he entered his house.

He walked through the crowded streets of the city that was once the town that asked for his protection. Nowadays, the people called him Hinokami and it was with just reason. He continued wandering around, grateful that his spirit could still roam the entirety of his domain while his body slept. These humans were not as dim as he once thought. In the span of a millennium, they were able to learn and create. He was a bit impressed that they still remembered their history, although not all of them knew the entire truth. He chuckled as a bus passed through him, thinking that these humans were very lucky that he didn't ask for anything in return. When he thought about it, he should have asked for the people to offer him virgin sacrifices at the start of every month. They would make a nice meal, he thought snidely to himself. He shrugged, leaping and floating on a nearby building top as he watched the people under his care.

Most of them were content and he liked that. They were also hard working and the god begrudgingly nodded his acceptance to the notion. He wondered whether these people would need his help again. He knew that if they had a major problem, the people would look at their leaders and not at him. How could they, when he was only a myth that parents told their children at night?

He laughed lightly, rubbing the back of his neck as he soared back to his volcano. What would come, would come.

The blonde frowned even more, when he stepped inside he saw his mother at the door greeting him with a smile. To him... The smile looked empty and fake. When he heard her say 'welcome home' he shook his head. For some odd reason he felt alone and that scared him, he hated to feel alone. As a few hours had past on by he stayed in his room. The room that he always stayed at while he was here. He glanced outside of the window. He had a clear view of the resting volcano, to him it was a beautiful sight to see.

His parents however thought of it as evil and gloomy. They told him many stories about it, saying how evil it was and nobody goes near it because it was to dangerous. Of coarse Keira heeded his parents words when he was a child but now... He shook his head and got off of his bed, he walked towards the window and opened it. Part of him wanted to check it out. But another part... A logical part was telling him to stay where he was at. Should he go? Or should he stay and listen to his parents argue? He decided on the latter of the two.

He was lucky that there was a tree by his bedroom window, he looked at the sturdy branch and climbed out of his window. After a few minutes of climbing down the tree he landed on the ground with a soft thud. His body froze for a minute as his blue eyes scanned the area before he took off running towards the woods. He decided that he was going to just check the volcano out and then head on home before his parents realized that he was gone.

He sat at the mouth of his volcano home, waiting for the stars to come. He looked down with distaste at the fences that the people had put around his home. If he had the heart, he would say that it was a desecration but he now looked after these people. He couldn't just wipe them all out because of spite. He sighed and wondered when the norm would be broken and a bit of fun would come his way.

He looked down and blinked a few times, noticing that a lone human had wandered into the forest that covered his volcano. He snorted, wondering if this person was just looking for useless fun or being plain stupid. Since the years that have passed, the volcano had become more hostile, releasing more and more toxic and noxious gases. It wasn't immediately fatal if humans were to inhale it, but for a prolonged time, it could be. For him, the gases were like a soothing aroma that helped his body continue to slumber.

He floated slowly down as the guy jumped over the fence and started to walk into the opening of the volcano. He shook his head, it was mostly impossible for most humans to find where his body was currently sleeping and he doubted that this human would be the one to find it. He smiled lightly. At least it was something to do before the night closed its' curtains. He followed the guy, floating just beside him and had to wonder what his purpose for visiting such hostile place.

Keira paused in his step, he felt somebody was following him and watching his every move. He spun around and looked around to see if he could find anybody. He released a soft sigh as he realized that it was his mind playing tricks on him. He just shrugged, he turned back around and continued on his way. His blue eyes scanning the area around him as he went. Just then there was a sound that made him squeak and jump. He turned his head side to side. Man his nerves were getting to him.

Maybe this was a bad idea... "I guess I should head back..." He whispered in a soft and sweet voice. He was about to leave until something caught his eyes, he walked over towards the wall. When he got close enough he saw weird markings indented in the wall. "What is this?" He tilted his head to the side in a unknown childish manner. He chewed the inside of his cheek as he reached up and placed his hand on the wall. He hissed and pulled his hand to his chest. "Jeez... That was a stupid move on my part..." He frowned. Keria lifted his hand up to his face to check out the damage.

And to his surprise it wasn't burnt... But it did feel very cold. "Why didn't my hand burn?" He asked himself as his frown deepened.

He looked at the guy and had to stop himself from outright laughing. This guy had no idea what lied beyond that wall of stone. He knew that this guy was curious, but also doubtful. He could not blame him and he would not do anything about it. He would not interfere with humans, specially now that they mostly didn't believe in them anymore. If the humans of these era knew that there were beings stronger than them, then the balance would shift and humans would fight and kill to gain such power.

He watched in silent fascination as the guy sat on a nearby rock and continued to look at his hand. He wondered if this human knew what the people of the city told about his place. Oh, he knew all of the things that they told about his volcano. He also knew what they told about him. Even though the people that he protected said so many nasty things about him, he couldn't do them any harm. What would he gain? Nothing but the disapproval of the other gods.

He looked back at his visitor, wondering why the guy looked so lost. Everyone had problems and it looked like this guy had a ton of them. He turned his back and was about to go up the mouth of the volcano, when he heard the guy murmur something. Sighing and deciding to be generous this time, the god sat on the highest point of the pillar that contained his body and gave the guy a chance to talk to no one in particular.

Keira sighed softly but stopped walking and looked back at the markings that he touched a few minutes ago. He walked back over feeling that he wasn't alone for some unknown reason. The blonde sat down on a small rock, his blue eyes looked up the wall. He then looked down with a frown crossing over his young face. "I know people say your not real and don't exist... But..." He trailed off bring his legs up to his chest. His slim arms wrapped around his legs. "I just... Need somebody to talk too... My parents and everybody else around here don't understand me... I feel alone even in my own home..."

His frown deepened even more, his eyes started to water slightly. He lifted his head up and looked at the wall with a sad and distant look on his face. "I wish I wasn't alone any more... I also wish my parents would stop fighting whenever I'm here... It's like... I'm the reason for them arguing... Like... They would always say that I'm strange and should be more normal..." Keira released a dry chuckle devoid of any emotion. But his eyes said his emotions for him. They held sadness, pain, and loneliness.

He shook his head giving the wall a small smile, "Well I guess I am strange for talking to a wall..." He stood up and dusted himself off. It wouldn't be to good to look like he was in the volcano. His parents would flip their lids if they found out that he went to the 'forbidden' place. He then yawned lightly and stretched his arms above his head causing his light blue v-necked shirt to hike up slightly showing off his pale stomach. He then placed his arms down and smiled once again at the wall. "Well thanks for listening I guess..." He giggled before he turned away from the wall and walked away from it heading to the mouth of the volcano.

He noted in silent fascination that this human was quite learned. Oh, he knew that this guy was just here to vent. Most humans really had no idea what they could do here. If he had it in himself, he would say that humans could go there and wish and maybe, if he was feeling particularly generous, he could grant those wishes. But alas, he didn't feel any particular kindness towards these people who didn't even believe in him anymore.

He watched as the guy stood and made to leave. It was actually quite funny to see this human bear his own problems alone. Although he did understand the guy, even for a bit. He laughed and unknowingly his body did too. The Volcano shook with his laughter, but it stopped as quickly as it began. It wouldn't do good if the city thought that the volcano was gonna erupt.

He chuckles, hovering just above the volcano entrance as he watched the retreating back of the guy. The first to brave but not the last to never return, He thought to himself.

The blonde male's eyes widen when he felt the ground shake but huffed out a sigh of relief when it stopped. For a minute there he thought that the volcano was going to erupt but shook that thought away quickly. A few minutes past on by and he broke through the woods and gasped when he was pulled into a strong chest.

"Keira! Oh thank god! Where in the hell did you go!?" He pulled away slightly and looked up at the person who was talking and winched when he realized that it was his father. A look of worry was crossing over his face and a slight angry was in his eyes.

Keira pulled away from him completely, looking away with a soft frown on his face. "I just went for a walk..." He spoke lightly still not looking at his father who by now was rubbing his forehead. "Well... Your home now so... Go and get cleaned for dinner..." With that said his father turned on his heel and walked away from the young blonde.

'It's always the same... It's never going to change the way they look and think of me...' He sighed and stretched his arms above his head before walking towards his house.

He had resumed his place atop the volcano, waiting in silence as the curtain of night finally closed and the stars blinked and winked at him. He sighed, sometimes he just wanted to return there. Where beings like him resided. Just beyond this known universe.

He closed his eyes and everything seemed to return.

~o~o~

The place was unfathomable in its beauty and everything was made in energy. They need not eat, sleep nor any other things that mortals had to do. His job, in the circle of eternity, was to create stars and consummate decrepit and dying planets. Such was the nature of the gods. But then an unknown species, among the countless that existed, were able to harness unknown powers and means to summon them. The problem was, the method was incomplete and full of imperfections.

He was sucked into the void, like some of the beings that he knew. They didn't feel, nor did they need. They just were. But he felt like he was being unmade as he passed through the void and into the land his summoners called theirs. Those people called him and his brothers and sisters gods. They were confused at first, some developed the feeling of anger, others of greed and of more darker nature.

That was how the wars started. His brothers and sisters corrupted by the very creatures that summoned them. But not all of them had succumbed to the darkness of the land. Some of them went to hiding and others protected people in need, just like what he did.

~o~o~

He sighed. The big problem was, he didn't know how to return. In this world, his power was limited to his feeding. Humans summoned him that, in turn, makes them his meal. He would never eat one if he could help it, but he will do so if needed be. He shook his head. It wasn't the physical that beings like him consumed. No. They consumed the spiritual. That in and of itself was terrible enough to bear. Souls of creatures were not to be touched, that was what the most powerful of them had constantly told them. When they were in their realm, it sounded pointless to discuss such matters. But now, he understood the need to know.

"Change seldom happens." He murmured.

He took a deep breath, washing his face in his bathroom. He had just once again left his parents be after they had started to argue once again over how he wasn't like other kids and that just stung.

So he pushed his food away and excused himself which caused yet another arguement to brake out between his parents. He then looked at his reflection and grimiest. He looked wore out, he had bag's under his bright blue eyes. He looked away hating his own look. Keira turned off the water and grabbed a washcloth to wipe his face dry.

A yell was heard downstairs and a crash. He screwed his eyes shut. God he wished his parents would get along just for once. He shook his head and headed into his connected bedroom, laying down on the bed with a soft groan. Maybe tomorrow will be better. With that thought in mind he closed his eyes and fell asleep.

He closed his eyes and when he opened them it was already morning. It was a blink but it was no surprise to him anymore. Their kind had a more different grasp on time. They were eternal, so it meant that time was of no consequence to them. Although what they did had a big impact on the future, sometimes they just couldn't get the heart to care.

He hovered back to his body and decided to take a nap. That could take a long time on human standards. He merged with his physical being and it was like his freedom suddenly vanished and in a way it did. But even though his spirit and physical being were asleep, he could still hear and feel the things that happened around him and he could wake if he desired to.

When the young blonde awoken the next day he yawned and arched his back off of his bed feeling and hearing a few cracks being made. He then got off of his bed and placed his warm feet on the cold wooden floor. A shiver racked through his body at the cold feeling but shrugged it off as soon as his feet started to warm up slightly. He did his normal early morning routines, when it was nine o' clock he went outside and took in a big breath of air. He told his mother that he would be going for a walk and will be back for lunch.

Keira walked through the woods, jumping over some roots and stepping in some mud. The bottom of his shoes were now caked with dirt and grime from the woods. He then stumbled upon the fence that blocked the volcano off from everybody. He looked around before he climbed over the fence landing with a soft thud. For some odd reason he felt himself getting pulled to this place. He just shrugged his shoulders and walked inside the volcano. He reached into his back pocket and took out a tiny pocket sized flashlight and flicked it on. He never realized how dark it was.

'It was a lot brighter in here yesterday...' He thought moving his flashlight around looking for something strange and out of place.

At first all he could see was darkness, then he started to make out some things. Like rocks, boulders, a few dying plants, and scattered debris. Then he also felt warmth, remembering the lava beneath the volcano that was encasing his entire physical being. There were also a few things that he noticed, like the small crevices that ran beneath the city. Although most of them were beyond the pipes that supported most of the city's electric line.

Then he started to hear some things. Like the soft rumble and click of a pebble being kicked, stones that were being thrown against a wall and whispers of voice. He noticed that he had a visitor. Again. The person was probably looking for something but then he realized that the steps were walking in a familiar pattern, like the person knew exactly where they were going.

He arched a brow as the same guy from the day before came into his view. This was a development. Either the blond really had nothing to do or he believed. He looked down and waited.

The blonde sighed in relief that he had found the wall from the other day, he walked up to it and reached his hand out like he did yesterday. However the stone felt slightly cooler then it did before. He took in a deep breath and turned around sitting down on the same rock he sat on yesterday, he shivered slightly feeling cold. He rubbed his arms after he placed the flashlight on the ground. "Man it's cold..." He shivered slightly before his rubbing increased and he felt slightly warmer now. His blue eyes stayed locked onto the wall.

"I told you I would be back didn't I?" He chuckled lightly having it sound more like a giggle then a chuckle. He knew he was going crazy... He was talking to a wall like it was a normal person. He shook his head and sighed. "Well... Last night I got into trouble with my parents... They yelled at me and told me to tell them the next time I was going out..." He laughed lightly, pulling up his legs to his chest. "I'm 18 years old and they still treat me like a kid..." Keira sighed once again only this time he racked his fingers through his hair.

"Man it's cold..."

"I told you I would be back didn't I?"

"Well... Last night I got into trouble with my parents... They yelled at me and told me to tell them the next time I was going out..."

"I'm 18 years old and they still treat me like a kid..."

He watched in fascination as the blond started to vent. He could understand where he was coming from, there were a lot of people like him but most of them talked to other people. Not walls were a god was secretly sleeping. He chuckled at that and the volcano grew a bit warmer.

The blond kept true to his promise.

He returned that day.

And the next after that.

And the next.

And the next.

And the next.

For two whole years.

He had always waited for him. Listened to everything that he said and silently wondered why did the blond kept returning. He had come to care for the guy. He had even followed him home once and stayed the night just watching the other sleep.

But then the blond never arrived one day. He was confused. Had the blond really given up on what he believed? Had he given up that he didn't exist? But he did exist. He waited and even visited the blond's house, but he wasn't there. No one was there. So he returned to his volcano and waited. But the blond never came that day.

Four sets of blue eyes watched the blond on the bed, hooked up to breathing support, had so many wires attached to his same body, and even his eyes were closed tightly like he was in pain. His parents watched with sad weary eyes the doctors had to them that he inhaled a lot of toxic fumes, they were both confused as to what he meant and he told them. They went pale.

Their son has been sneaking around just to go to the volcano? They both looked at each other when the doctor told them that he only has three month's to live. Well that did it for them, they looked back into the room to see their son panting slightly and trying to open his eyes. His hands clutched at the bed as it became more and more painful to breath, little did they know he was awake. He only had three months to live?! No! He didn't want to die!

He just couldn't.... He groaned in pain and coughed, wheezing slightly as his coughing increased causing him to sit up and put his hand to his mouth while his other hand clutched the white bed sheets in the other one. The doctor and his parents heard him coughing and ran right into the hospital room. "Keira!" His mother yelled running over towards her son's side.

She was about to touch his back and he flinched from her hand. She raised a blond eyebrow up in a worried and hurt manner. "Keira...?" He shook his head slowly. He didn't want her to touch him. "D-D-D-Don't... T-T-Touch m-me...." He coughed behind his hand, the doctor saw this and told the parents to leave. They were about to complain but the doctor told them that he needed rest and that they can come back tomorrow. They looked at each other one last time before leaving the room.

The doctor took a deep breath and walked over towards the young blond and put some sleeping aid in his IV, he then pulled a tissue from off on the side and handed it to him before walking out of the room. Keira took the tissue away before the doctor left and pulled his hand which was shaking away from his mouth and saw blood on it. This just proved his worries he's going to die.

He had spent the entire night waiting. He knew that the blond never broke his promise. He knew that he would continue to visit him. Then he shook his head. He didn't know. He had started to believe what the blond had told him. And that was a bit frustrating to say the least. Through the centuries that he had lived, he had never come to care to a specific human. Yes, he cared for the people under his domain but this was much more different. He really didn't know what mortals called it, more so that he had just started to learn about feelings.

Morning dawned and he still waited. And still no blond. He was so tempted to wake his physical being just to demand to the people where the blond was, but he resisted. As amusing as that sounded, he didn't want to make the volcano erupt. Even though no one would be affected badly when it did, the people in his domain would probably be terrified and that was probably the worst that could happen.

Noon came and still the blond was nowhere to be seen. He was growing restless. When had he become so attached to to him? When had he started to care? How long had he been so dependent on the other's company? Those were good questions and even though he was a god, he didn't have the answers. He was not like the Maker.

Evening came and his disappointed was so palpable that the volcano was releasing much more heat and toxic gas. He sighed, deciding that merging with his body and sleeping for a couple of millennium would probably help him understand. Or maybe forget.

Keira opened his eyes when he heard the door shut, he turned his head weakly over towards it and sighed softly finally he could try and leave... But how? He looked around the room weakly and smiled softly, lucky for him that his room was on the bottom floor which meant he could escape through the window. He pulled off his cover's and took the IV out of him winching as he did so.

He then pulled off the other things on him which made the blue light to flash and an alarm went off, he quickly hurried to the window to the best of his ability and opened it. He then jumped out of it landing in the bushes, his breaths were coming out in pain filled wheezes. He heard the doctors and nurses running around wondering where he had gone only realizing that he went out the window and looked round not even bothering to look down.

They were yelling and telling other doctors to go out and find him before he gets to far. He took in a shaky breath and crawled on his hands and knees along the bushes being as quiet as he could. Once again luck was on his side, the bushes ran along the wall of the hospital. When he got to the front he bolted out of there as fast as his dying body can go. His breathing became much more harsher and more frantic.

He ran for a good five miles before he stumbled upon the volcano, he doubled over coughing ruffly and harshly. Blood was coming out. Maybe this was a bad idea... He shook his head... There was no way he could die in a hospital without visiting the volcano first... He took in another harsh breath and climbed under the fence since the last few times he came here he made an opening for himself. When he was on the other side he took shaky steps towards the volcano.

As soon as he stepped foot inside he started to cough harshly but he pressed on. His movements became sluggish and weak by the time he got to the wall. He walked slowly to it and placed a shaky hand on it. "I-I-I... T-T-Told y-you t-that I... would be... back..." He fell to his knees coughing and wheezing. "I-I t-t-thought... I... w-would c-come here... O-one last.. T-Time before I die...." He doubled over hold his stomach and coughing up blood. "Hen.... I-It looks l-like t-the d-doctors w-wh-whe-where wro-" He closed his eyes and clasped in front of the wall.

"Hen.... I-It looks l-like t-the d-doctors w-wh-whe-where wro-"

He heard him and everything was just wrong. The blond wasn't supposed to die! Just when he was beginning to like the guy. Then he stopped to think. There was one- He shook his head, he needed to act now and maybe he'll think later.

His eyes opened and the volcano rumbled. His body twitched and the wall cracked. He growled and the slab shattered, making him fall beside the blond. He growled a second time and his wings erupted from his back. He then gathered the other to him and flew them both to a nearby mountain top as the volcano erupted.

He tilted the blond's head and molded his mouth with the other's. He needed to remove the toxic fumes inside him and he also needed to cleanse the guy's poisoned organs. He noted with silent fascination that color started to blossom across the blond's face as he continued to cleanse the other.

It took a bit of time, but when he was done he felt considerably weakened. It was probably due to him not feeding for a couple thousand years. He knew that he couldn't eat any mortal, most especially the blond that he just healed. He could feed from him though. But that still depended on the blond's answer when he gave his questions.

His form had receded to his half human half god look. His horns still prominent and so were his wings but those two were the more prominent ones. It was no good if he was in his full power when the blond met him for real this time. He turned his back to the other as he watched the volcano give one final eruption.

Keira groaned softly and opened his eyes slowly, he felt.... Better? He closed his eyes again and took in a deep shallow breath, cool air filled his lungs causing him to cough slightly. His body still felt weak due to all of the running around he did. He just wanted to sleep before he felt the ground shake and heard a loud explosion which made his dark blue eyes to open. He sat up quickly and moaned softly as he felt how stiff his muscles were but he some how ended up getting on his hands and knees and crawled towards the edge slightly.

His eyes widened as he saw the lava flowing down the sides of the volcano. "Why did the volcano erupt? And..." He looked down when he felt how cold he was now. He blinked a few times and gasped. "How did I get up on this mountain top?!" He looked around frantically until his eyes landed on the person that was there with him. He then stumbled back as fear crossed over his face. "W-Who are you! W-What are you!" He asked fear was clearly hear in his voice.

"W-Who are you! W-What are you!"

He looked at the blond and had to raise an eyebrow. He really couldn't expect much on their first meeting, especially when he was in his half-god state and was practically naked. But the blond would see that later.

"You spent two years talking to me and you ask me who I am?" He asked in mock confusion. The truth was that he didn't have a name. Beings like him never bothered for such things, but now that he had a master, well, said master would be the one to give him a name. But the blond would not know that yet. Well, it actually depended on what would happen.

"Do you even know the story between the volcano and the city?" He sighed, exasperated. "You come and ask for wishes, so don't go crying when they would be granted."

He stood and loomed over the blond, not really caring if the guy saw everything. "I woke from my slumber to prevent you from dying, made my home erupt on that process and you're just gonna gape at me?" He sighed yet again and rubbed his temples. "Humans these days."
