PRAYERS THAT HAVE ONE DESTINATION

tumblr_lhwm6c05vM1qa04wlo1_500_large.jpg

This thread will be long one, will be emotional one, will be a thread of truth. If you take it as a simple article to kill time,at least stop eating snacks and sipping your coke. It's not meant to entertain you,but to make you realize the price of a life.

Thank you.

It's been one year since Japan disaster. I didn't find strength, nor a will to write about it on 11th of March 2012. Once a person told me and taught me, if you lose something don't mention it only when the whole world mentions it. If it was something important to you, your heart will always find the strength to tell what a life was on Earth.

Sadly, people recall disasters only when the time occurs,of course those that stayed from aside.

I asked myself, during these weeks before and after 11th of March 2012, how old a person should be to realize the price of a life?

A young heart recovers faster than an old heart,it's a matter of fact. But does the age of heart can be a factor to make us feel things differently? I don't think so. Every human being has the imagination, the strength, the will and the mind to see things in a way,or two.

I,myself, might be called a hypocrite to stay from aside and pray only when the rest of the crowd does it. True,we all are hypocrites, but I want to stand up for my principles and tell you what happened, what Japan felt and what I saw through my eyes, the mirror of my world.

NORTH JAPAN 11/03/11 2:46PM

While the busy life, the usual busy life keeps going in Japan,no one could imagine what can happen for just a moment.

In an instant, the ground under feet starts shaking and drumming against the Earth's core. Buildings try to stay at place, people try to find a place to hide. May be because none of the rest of the world can imagine what is it like to overcome a dozen of disasters, but Japanese know it pretty well. That, even though sad, was a factor number one to not let the people panic. At least, not the same panic you and I might be in,if we were in the same shoes.

It felt like a whole life to see the earthquake stops. People couldn't even do anything except hide and watch how their homes were falling apart.

And it kept playing with the earth for a whole bunch of seconds wrapped in five minutes. To have your mind shaken and kept in a shock for five minutes,I wonder how many would be able to have feet keeping them up.

Even far, exactly 230km away,it could be able to be felt and lived through - Tokyo.

While manga and anime offices,maid-cafes,big companies, even ordinary stores were being destroyed, specialists had the information about the sea-horse like earthquake. The magnitude hit 9.0 (MW) and struck them right from the depth of sea. The biggest earthquake in Japan's history.

TOKYO 11/03/11 2:53PM

Japanese Crisis Center is gathered in Tokyo. It didn't take them long to realize that something bad might happen and it to be a threat for the whole humanity on Earth. The awaiting disaster was only just beginning. Japan has five nuclear reactor blocks - Fukushima Daiichi. The worst was that no one had a direct contact with Fukushima center for updates about what state the reactors were in. After the earthquake,Fukushima lost any sparkle of electric energy. Have you been in the depth of abyss? Doubt it,but those who worked there were put through a real horror.

Fukushima was 178km away from the center of the real earthquake which found its place in the depth of sea. By the first sign of such a disaster,Fukushima had to switch to automatic-turn off and use electric generators to keep reactors cooled down. Engeneers were checking the current situation, yet everything seemed to be still in the scale of 'minimum danger'.

NATION ALARMED 11/03/11 2:55PM

Japan had to be informed about the danger of tsunami. Every single TV program had to be switched to an emission, warning emission.

The nation had to stay strong. Every single part of North Japan were in a danger, including Fukushima area.

On Fukushima's board only one team would stay, called 'Fukushima 50'. The world's guardians. They knew what could happen, they knew that their lives were put in the hand's of Death's mercy.

FUKUSHIMA 11/03/11 3:26PM

The beginning,as it's called, started. 'Fukushima 50' team had victims right away from the tsunami's hit. The specialists sent there couldn't even check the state of reactors. The water made it impossible. The lack of energy made it dark and like a scene from a horror movie. The team that was sent there saw how one single second can destroy every single hope.

The Crisis Center couldn't contact them yet. The nation's safety was literally in the hands of fate.

While the world was watching online, or on TV, the disaster, no Japanese could check the current situation. Updates could be hardly done, the only information they could get was the one put from overseas.

Japan could only pray,so they say. No. Let me tell you what Japan did.

TO BE BRAVE - TO HAVE A PRIDE

Many of you know Japanese for their pride and bravity. Many of you know for their endless hope. It's true, but how many of you thought that everyone in Japan was only praying? True, ordinary people couldn't do much. Especially after Fukushima's explosions. They were trapped there since no flight was available to save them. Some blamed, some cried, some stayed ignorant, some prayed, some died. But I wonder what is it like to have your coworker and a friend die in front of your eyes and you still fighting to save the world.

To cool down the reactors, they tried a million of things. Used even cars' engine's power from such cars that could be found abandoned on roads. That's right. They went to find something to give them a small doze of energy and hope. They tried to use sea water, sacrificing the blocks' constructions to be useless afterwards. But seemed like everything was against them. The strong wind after the tsunami made it hard to calm down the flames.

Another team was gathered to work and fight against the flames which were deadly spiralling around their lives.

''Stay strong Japan'' was one of the world's messages to Japan. A million of paper cranes flew towards the sky, filling it with prayers. Even I kept doing paper cranes, white paper cranes.

Japan managed to avoid a disaster that could be ten times greater than the one in Chernobyl. Do you really understand and realize what that means? I wonder. Because I can't. I have a wide imagination, readers. But... seems like it's not enough to imagine such a thing. It's not even enough to realize such a strength that Japan showed.

MY OWN HOPE

Even though I couldn't contact my fellows there, with some I can't still contact. Of course I checked some information,if they were still alive, and they ARE. Even if I don't know where they are, it's enough to know they still breathe.

Some though went to keep fighting with Fukushima and it's hard to keep your mind positive when you are in the dark.

But one thing I have learned and I want to share it even if some won't understand it - Hope is born when Heros die.

Don't let Death gives you hope, but Life.

I agree with Macys and it makes you just stay and think about those who risked or lost their lives in order to prevent a disaster. It's something you rarely see at other nations, that sense of duty and that dedication.

A sad and emotional article. I found out things that I didn't know regarding what happened at Fukushima. I really admire those in Fukushima 50 and all those who went there to help and risked their lives.

I like the positive tone in which it ends 'Hope is born when Heros die.

Don't let Death gives you hope, but Life.'

PS: I'm glad that your contacts there are alive

I think that the tragedy that happened in Japan made the whole world shiver. I recall that when I found out about the incident and turned the television on, I bursted into tears, I couldn't believe my eyes and everything I was seeing seemed as a nightmare. And if it was a nightmare for us, we can't just imagine what a hell it was for the people there, fighting for their lives and for the lives of the persons around them. I still couldn't believe it days after it happened and still recall everything like a bad dream.

  • 7 months later...

I know that all we can do is to sit, wait and pray from the side when disasters happen :( It's a great pain knowing you can do nothing for your friends and all the other people that suffer there.

When i saw at tv about the earthquake, the tsunami and that explosion from Fukushima i started crying ... being useless for them is the worse thing you can feel.
