Evan woke up from the annoying classical tune from his alarm. "Good Morning. It's 6:00 AM. Now for the news..." The female robotic voice said over the song. Evan groaned and blindly turned on his alarm. It was the first day on his job, and he was more annoyed that he was so damn early than anything. His sister Victoria got him this secretarial job at this huge company. He did an interview with some guy, who gave the CEO his resume to review. After a few days, he got an email saying he got the job with a day and time to start. He dragged himself out of bed and into a shower. The house gave off the smell of bacon and eggs, which drove him to hurry in the shower. After he dried off and got dressed in a white button up shirt with dress pants, and a nice little vest to tie everything together.

Evan hurried into the kitchen, where he saw his sister putting their breakfast on two plates. "How did you sleep?" Victoria said, her green eyes flashing over to Evan. Victoria and Evan looked almost exactly alike; they had the name black hair and green eyes. They even had the same nose and lips. Victoria wore her hair in a tight bun. She had these pearl earrings that dangled from her ears, and a nice necklace to compliment it. She took off her apron, revealing that wore a black dress with a white collar. "I slept okay. I wish I could have slept longer though..."

"That's what happens when you go out partying the day before a big job." Victoria rolled her eyes, and placed Evan's plate in front of him. She looked at her watch before she sat down across from Evan.

"Robb wanted to congratulate me on my new job. It was only suppose to be a shot of tequila, that turned into four shots and a few beers." Evan said with a slight shrug to his shoulders, before he started to eat a piece of bacon.

"Look, Evan. You know I love and cherish you - you're my baby brother after all. But I really stuck my neck out for you to get this job. Please don't fuck it up." Victoria said as she wiped her mother and pushed her plate aside. Evan looked at his sister before he looked away, and rubbed his neck.

"I won't 'Toria... just trust me, okay?" Evan said, his green eyes meeting with his sisters before she got up and put her plate in the sink.

"I'll try." Victoria said as she walked past him, running her fingers through her brothers hair as she walked into the bathroom to put on her makeup.

After breakfast Evan dried his hair and slicked it back with some gel, before he grabbed his car keys and left. It bothered him that Victoria treated him like a child, but guess that was the curse of being the youngest of seven. He was starting to get nervous. The CEO's name looked so familiar, but he just couldn't put a finger on it. Maybe it was some fantastic one night stand, that left his legs feeling like jelly. Guess only time would tell. Evan parked his car in a garage, and walked into the large corporate building. He was starting to feel just a little nervous. Evan's done administrative work before, but he was never a CEO's secretary. He took a deep breath and pulled out his phone. The email said to meet him at the top level, right? Evan scrolled through his email and was instantly relieved that he was right.

After a few minuets, Evan finally found some elevators. He pushed the button labeled as 18, and waited nervously for it to get to his floor. There were a few stops along the way, and he ended up briefly meeting a few of his coworkers. They were all nice so far. Though Evan would be lying if he said he wasn't nervous to meet the CEO. Evan already wanted to run, but that would throw Victoria into a fit and he no one wanted that.

He eventually made it to the eighteenth floor, and found it to be empty. There was a large desk that was presumably Evan's. There were tons of windows, with a gorgeous view of the city. There were a few chairs and coffee tables, and even a little coffee station for people who were waiting to see the CEO. The one thing that stood out though was a glass door, that you could only see bury shapes through. The door read Bruce Arkham - CEO. Evan bit his lip nervously, before he walked over to the door, and gave a light knock.

Bruce Arkham | Twenty Eight | Male | Power Bottom | Dhampir* | 6'0 | Athletic

*In this roleplay he is human.

Personality:

He is a workaholic, but his personality is very fluid. He's quite adaptable to be pleasing to many people and even disliked by some if he sees it to suit his tastes. He's a flirty one by nature and tends to be a bit of a people pleaser. However, regardless of his public personality, he is quite lonely.

Biography:

Born into the Arkham family, he's the creation of selective breeding. From a very young age, he's had to learn the finest arts of survival in - not only the world - but also in the high class social circles. Elite since birth, he's been groomed to take the place in the company as the Vice-CEO at his brother Kirks side. Due to stressful events, the lack of wanting to inherit the company and their parents' untimely death, Kirk dropped from the face of the earth and left poor Bruce to take over.

He excelled at leading the company after he graduated from University and has been the CEO since. While he is very flirty and flamboyant in the public eye, he's extremely private of his personal life and he wants to find... something more fulfilling to his life than just working.

Facts:

- He doesn't discriminate based on gender.

- He was forced to do ballroom dances since a young age.

- He can play the violin, the piano and cello.

His day started just like anyone elses... if you liked to fall asleep in your own office. His personal assistant, Sebastian, had decided that due to his "antics" they should buy a sofa bed for the office, which looked still stylish enough not to be too obvious. And there, he woke up at 6am in the morning when the sun started shining through the windows and the city skyline started to light up, the last drunks of the night finding their way home. Except, he didn't wake up, but rolled over instead and put the pillow on top of his head, giving into the sweet darkness, and sleep.

It was nearly two hours later that Sebastian woke him up, practically pulling him out of the bed and then proceeded to get him through (half asleep that he was) his morning process. His office had a personal bathroom which had a shower over a bath and all the other luxuries one would expect of an executive bathroom. He showered, brushed his teeth and slicked his hair back. He dropped his towel to the bathroom floor and wandered back to his office where the sofa bed had already been folded. On top of it, there was a suit fresh out of the dry cleaners and some underwear, which he put on with practically automatic movements. In turn as he was getting dressed, Sebastian spoke of his daily schedule and reminded him of the interviews he was to conduct in a few hours. Tired, but still alert, he listened and hummed whenever appropriate.

Bruce sat down at his desk and casually rolled to look at the view, the sun much brighter already. There was a pleasant clunk when Sebastian put down a cup of coffee on the table and Bruce spun around, grabbing the cup and then stopping the chair from spinning when it returned back to look at the view. He could hear Sebastian leaving, mumbling something about "utterly childish" and "spoiled". Bruce sipped the coffee and it was absolutely perfect. Or from the machine just outside of his door, either way, it was exactly how he liked it.

After he got some more of the coffee into his system, he started to read the applicant files and stopped when he reached the 15th one. His breath practically hitched at the name and he frowned a little bit, sincerely, before he read the rest of the file. Just about half way of the file, he had tried to convince himself that he had the wrong person, but the more he read, the more evident it became that this was the Evan he'd had a MAJOR crush in school. Back then, things had been different, but... that feeling had never quite vanished.

A little bit after he finished reading all of the files - which he stacked up neatly to the left side of his table - he heard a knock on the door. He licked his lips once quietly tested his voice before he spoke louder: "You may enter." He might have given permission for the person to come in, but he wasn't ready for the sight. There was something at the pit of his stomach that just dropped and he took a deep calming breath, though didn't make it obvious. Instead, he gave Evan his regular look of disinterest. "Hello and welcome to Arkham Enterprises. I've read your file and it's fairly impressive. I still have a few important questions that I need you to answer before I give you any response." He clapped his hands and Sebastian came out of the personal bathroom. "Yes, Sir?" Bruce waved Sebastian towards them. "Can you get Mr. Percy something to drink?" to which Sebastian automatically responded by bringing in a clean glass and a pitcher of water.

"I need you to answer a few questions for me. I hope you came prepared." He flashed a grin, practiced and fake. The questions were as follows, for which Bruce gives Evans adequate time to respond and tentatively listens to the replies, each followed with a brief pause before he asks the next.

"Tell me of a very difficult scenario that you've diffused."

"I'm with a business client, but another client practically pushes through the door anyway. Both clients are of high value to the company. How do you solve the situation?"

"Tell me of a moment that you're exceptionally proud of."

"How flexible are you when it comes to working overtime?"

At the confirmation to enter the office, Evan opened the door with confidence - despite not having at at the moment. But he had to impress this guy. If he didn't, he was sure to hear about it when he got home. He looked at Bruce. He definitely looked familiar, and he was definitely his type. He looked like the kind of guy to take charge, and Evan loved a man who could lay down the law. Evan could not mix work and his personal life together! It was a rule he set in place during his second or first job, that he followed strictly. No one should know what a train wreck he was, especially if that man just so happened to be the CEO of the company.

Evan sat down before Bruce welcomed him to the company. He gave him a polite smile, as he tried to figure out where he knew him from. That thought was pushed to the side for a second when he said he had questions for him. He mentally cussed and close his eyes. Evan was a smart guy though, so he would do great - or so he hoped. When Bruce asked Sebastian to get something for him to drink he thanked him, and poured himself a class of water. He sipped it, and silently wished that it was vodka. When Bruce asked if he was prepared, he wanted to tell him that he was no where close - but that would be a guaranteed way for Evan not to get a job.

He looked Bruce, and that grin gave him just the slap he needed to remember who Bruce was. He was a friend-with-benefits. They agreed that there would be no emotional ties, and they had some of the most fantastic sex Evan ever had in his life. Bruce took him to places that not most men would never be able to. But Bruce ended up catching feelings for him, and asked him out. Evan handled the confession like a prick, to put it plainly. Evan laughed even after there were tears in his eyes, gathered his clothes, and left. He never returned any of Bruce's texts or calls. This was the first time since college he's even spoken to him.

The first question was simple enough. It was a very common interview question - one that he's aced. "When I worked as the Head Receptionist at Dr. Burns Therapy Office, I once had a man who pulled a knife on my employee. Asked someone in the back to call the cops. I ended up walking over to him, and calmly took the knife out of his hand and talked with him until the cops arrived." That was a true story. Evan could still feel how shaken he was after he was taken away. He could have been stabbed, but he wasn't.

The pause gave Evan an extreme amount of anxiety. Was his response not good enough? Oh God. The second question made Evan think for a second, but when he got the answer he met eyes with Bruce, his green eyes catching the light of the sun. "Well, if someone is already in a meeting all I could do is calm the other down and make him feel valued. After he makes it past me, I'll tell you calmly that your other client came in early but I have it handled. I would then direct him to the waiting area, make him coffee just the way they like it, and make small talk with him. I would also remind him that I will get him in, even if I have to rearrange a few things. If they are highly valued clients, we need to make them feel that way. After you're done with your client, I'll alert you of the situation before sending him in." Evan felt like his response could have been better, but he felt like that with most interview questions.

The next question made him smile. Evan looked down, before he caught Bruce's eyes again. "My last employer named an award after me. He said that I was the reason that everything was so organized, comfortable, and air tight. He said without me, he wouldn't know what to do, and an Employee of the Month didn't show how much he valued me. He called it the Percy Awards, and I guess it's still being handed out." Evan loved that job, but he needed a change. He was getting too comfortable there.

The last question caught him off guard slightly. He expected the questions to get harder over time, but this was a cake walk. "I can work whenever or however long you need me." Money was great, but Evan would be lying if he said he wasn't sad that partying would be harder to do. Maybe this was why Victoria recommended this job. She was always trying to get him clean, and she figured being busy would help. Jokes on her though, Evan is probably going to get turned away. There was no way in hell that Bruce would want to work alongside him. Evan broke his heart in the most horrific way. If Evan got laughed at like that, he would sucker punch the guy. Now Bruce had his career in the palm of his hand. Evan always had a way of self sabotaging himself, but never so skillful that it would bite him in the ass a few years later.

Bruce remained quiet whenever Evan answered and even decided to take a gander at the file he had in front of himself. It did mention that he had worked at Dr. Burns Therapy Office, but he wasn't too sure whether the story would be true. He would have to follow up on that later. The same with the Percy Award. Mostly, Bruce remained quiet and gave an occasional nod to show that he was listening. Evan's answer for handling the client situation was ideal, as was the fact that he could do overtime which was something that his previous secretary had not been too happy with, hence the available position.

Just to torture Evan a little longer, he remained quiet in his chair, slightly swaying back and forth, before he picked up the file and closed it. "That was it then, short and sweet. I'll let you know in the next 72 hours if you got the job or not." He announced with a polite smile and he heard Sebastian knocking on the door, to which he replied with a loud whistle. He was standing up from his chair and re-rolled the sleeves of his shirt to his elbows before he struck his hand forward for Evan to take. "By the way Evan, tell Victoria I said hello. I need to catch up with her." He offered the male a polite smile - and it was just that, polite - after which he gave a small wave as Sebastian escorted Evan out of the office.

Once Sebastian closed the door behind himself, Bruce took a deep breath and bit down on his lip. He swiftly took his phone out of his pocket and texted Victoria with a "You're cruel." before he placed the phone back into his pocket and sat down. Seeing Evan again had been a bit of a shock, but at the same time, it brought back memories that were too intimate, ones that he had wanted to forget altogether. But he still couldn't. He still remembered the way his fingers dug into his thighs to the point of leaving bruises, the temptation of wanting to kiss his neck - one thing he had never allow "because it would leave a mark" - and the way how he had always been utterly satisfied and he could let go for just a little bit to enjoy the afterglow, but it seemed like Evan hadn't felt the same way.

His phone buzzed and he saw a reply from Victoria, just an emoji with it's tongue sticking out, to which he chuckled. Some things never change. Sebastian knocked onto the door again and came in announcing the arrival of the second candidate for the position. Bruce had to let go of his memories and calm down, which he did with a long breath. Afterwards, he smiled. "Send them in!" As the next person came in, looking extremely nervous, Bruce stood up. "Welcome to Arkham Enterprises, come here and sit down. Sebastian?" The man automatically switched the glass for a new one and so the interview started.

When Bruce said it would take 72 hours for him to get back to Evan, all he could do was muster a smile. On the inside though, Evan was in full panic mode. If Evan didn't get this job Victoria was going to let him have it. She would ask how he fucked it up. He couldn't just flat out tell his sister that he fucked Bruce back in college, and laughed in his face when he asked him out - God knows what Victoria would even do to him. The knock on the door made Evan look over his shoulder, the whistle brought his attention back to Bruce. Evan watched Bruce raise up from his chair, and hold out his hand. Even quickly grabbed his hand and shook it.

When Bruce said to tell Victoria hello, Evan could feel his body go cold with shock. Evan looked up at Bruce with wide eyes for a few seconds, as his brain tried to think of something to say. "U-um..." Evan stammered, his eyes looking down at their hands. "Y-yeah. I'll do that. Um... I'll hear from you in 72 hours I guess." Evan awkwardly said as he pulled his hand away and followed Sebastian out of the office.

Evan's head was swarming with a sea of thoughts. He was definitely not getting the job, that much he knew. Did Victoria know about Bruce and Evan? Evan never told Victoria... or maybe he did? He told Victoria everything, so it would only make sense, right? Fuck. This was going to be the last time Evan ever trusted his sister again.

Evan walked down to his car, the world around him feeling like it was in some kind of daze. It would be just his luck that Evan would meet Bruce again. Even got into his car and pressed his forehead against the steering wheel. Maybe if Evan didn't sleep with every guy he thought was attractive, these things wouldn't happen to him. Though it went beyond that. Evan broke so many hearts, that eventually the names and faces became blurry. In a way, it was Evan's way to show people that love was a lie, and they bought into the media's agenda. Love was propaganda. It was built to sell books, movies, and hallmark cards. It was built as a way to make couples feel like the relationship isn't perfect, for single people to feel insignificant, and a way for both of these people to keep buying romantic media to fill a hole in their existence. Evan kept breaking hearts to prove a point... but he never thought it would bite him so hard in the ass.

After a few minuets, Evan started his car and drove back home. He was nervous about Victoria coming home... but he could play it off like the interview went okay... at least for the next 70 hours.

  • 6 months later...

The rest of the interviewees were... well, boring and uneventful. Office jobs, they wanted to have more responsibility and it wasn't being given to them. True, some of them had their star moments, but they hardly did compare to talking down a man with a knife (not to mention not getting stabbed in the process) and getting a award named after yourself. This annoyed him to high hell. When Victoria told him that he had someone potential for his secretarial place, he didn't know that he was going to meet the one person who broke his heart when he needed it the least. Not to mention, when he needed the support the most. And yet, regardless of all these people brown nosing up to him, he could only give them half of his attention and then to let the other half think how they didn't compare to Evan. Yet, he still managed to hold on until the end of the interviews.

Even though his selection was difficult and yet still so easy, he didn't know whether he selected Evan Percy from the interviews based on the fact that he had what it took (and he had seen him perform well under pressure) or the fact that he had an ulterior motive of making Evans life an absolute hell for the whole duration of it and see if he cracked. He did keep the other files too and ranked his top three choices in case if Evan was as much of a commitment phobe with work as he was with relationships.

Just to make things absolutely torture for Evan, he waited part the 72 hours he said he would let him hear back. And it turned into 73. And then 75. And then closer to 80 hours. In the end, he waited until the business was closed and he was at home, lounging in his work chair while he admired the sights, the darkness of the sky, the stars and the small twinkling lights of cars and lamps. He took Evans CV from it's folder and then used the landline to call. He had a glass of red in a glass and he slowly swirled it about while he waited for a response in the other end.

He heard a noise, but he wasn't sure if it was an answering machine or someone picking up. "Hello, I'm calling about your interview at Arkham Enterprises? You got the job. Be here first thing in the morning at eight o'clock. Don't be late. Tell Victoria she has a poor sense of humour." and without waiting for a response, he hung up. He arched his back slightly and took a swig of his wine. Somehow, it tasted a little bit better than usual. He smiled a little bit to himself before he toasted towards the view from his window. "For poor life choices."
