Durrin Hanfil, 27

Wolf tribe

Prince, only heir to throne

Durrin has a smug haughty behavior. He rather not deal with troublesome issues. If you strike his attention, he will mark you as his. He is a man used to getting what he wants when he wants it.

--------------------post---------------------------------

The day was as any other before. The kingdom was a whirl of activity. Though, today, they were lively for a new reason. The war that strained their kingdom and made their lives rough had come to an end. A treaty for peace between them and the kingdom of the kitsunes was being enacted started that day. A betrothal united the kingdoms had been announced and they await the arrival of the royal family from the Kitsunes.

Durrin was slow to wake, lazy in his mannerisms. He woke the other in his bed and shooed them out before he stood and stretched. He had a long week ahead of him. His father wanted him to entertain the prince from the other kingdom and them escort him back to his kingdom. Then he was to marry the kitsune. The worst part was his father requested he play faithful and fair.

The prince sighed as he dressed in the ivory and blood red robes of the royal family. His tail swished side to side and his ears twitched. He didn't know what was expected of him by this other prince, but he planned on playing the part only as long as he had to. Once the knot was tied, he could be however he pleased. He smirked at the thought and ran a hand through his hair. This was going to be fun.

Axel Kovar, 20

Prince of the kitsune

Only heir to the throne

-------------------------------------------

Axel was woken up early by the maids, giving a groan as his blinds were pulled open to bathe his room in the morning light. His hands moved up to rub his eyes as one of the maids urged him to get up, claiming it was going to be a very busy day. A busy day it would be indeed. Today was the day he'd be escorted over to the okami kingdom to meet his betrothed. The kitsune had been at war with the okami for as long as the fox could remember, but the day had finally come where the two kingdoms decided to set their differences aside and unite as one. The maids were extremely cheery as they urged the prince out of bed, gathering his clothing and running a bath for him in the next room. The prince himself wasn't quite as happy. He was glad the war was over, but the thought of having to marry the okami prince made him nervous.

Pulling himself up out of bed, the fox hybrid made his way into the bathroom and shed his night clothing. He spent a good amount of time sitting in the warm bath water, his mind reeling as he wondered what his soon-to-be husband was going to be like. A sigh came from him as he proceeded to wash himself, then stepped out of the tub and wrapped a soft towel around himself. After drying himself off, he dressed himself in his white and gold uniform, the colors seeming to match well with his fair complexion and pure white hair, fox ears and tail. His violet eyes scanned over his reflection in the mirror, smoothing his uniform. He wanted to look good for meeting the okami prince, even if he wasn't too keen on the whole idea. He was still the prince of the kitsune and wanted to come off as divine as he possibly could.

The prince's ears flickered back as his guard walked in, telling him it was time to go. He gave a nod and followed him out, being escorted out of the palace and into the carriage that was pulled by two horses. Axel spent the whole ride in silence, staring out the window as he nervously thought about the upcoming events. He had grown up knowing the okami to be vicious creatures who reeked havoc on his people, and now he was going to marry their prince? He tensed at the thought, but drew in a deep breath to try and calm himself. Before he knew it, the carriage came to a stop. The prince perked up as the door was opened for him, shifting over to step out of the carriage. He got a view of the okami palace, a sinking feeling in his stomach. Despite his nervousness, he kept his posture high as his guards escorted him into the palace.

The king sat at his throne with a terse expression. His son was late and the servants were running about in a hurry to locate the prince. It was in the middle of his mental cursing to his son, when in walked their royal guest. The king took a deep breath and cleared his mind before smiling at the entourage before him.

"Come in!" The king moved to his feet and his silver tail, matching the silver of his hair, swayed lightly. "Welcome to our kingdom. I must apologize for my son's absence. He had a few errands to run, but he shall be present soon."

A maid slipped up to the king and whispered in his ear before bowing and rushing back out. The okami growled as he narrowed his eyes and spun around, "DURRIN! Get your lazy ass out here! Sending maids as messengers! Calso, fetch my son immediately!"

A guard stepped up and bowed before leaving. The king turned back to his guest and smiled as though nothing happened. "Apologies. It seems there was a mishap in the kitchens. Have you eaten yet? We have a wonderful lunch prepared."

The prince walked in, two guards walking on either side of him as he glanced around. His gaze soon stopped on the okami king, watching as he rise to his feet. He managed a smile as he was welcomed, giving a bow to him out of respect. "Thank you, your majesty." It wasn't often that he had to bow to another person, but he didn't seem to mind it much at all. Once he stood back up, he shook his head. "Oh, no worries. We did arrive a little early anyways." He said as the king apologized for his son's absense.

Axel's eyes shifted to the approaching maid, blinking a few times as he watched her whisper to the okami. A slight frown crossed his face and he flinched as the king then yelled out for his son. He was already a timid person as it was, but being in unfamiliar territory really didn't help his nerves. Despite his discomfort, he tried to keep a calm demeanor, his white tail slightly swishing behind him.

He watched as the guard hurried off to find the prince, then returned his gaze to the king as he again apologized. "It's no problem really." He assured him. "I haven't eaten yet, I figured you would have wanted to share a meal with me once I had arrived." He said, his smile returning.

The king chuckled as he gestured for the prince to follow. "An intuitive one. Come right this way. I am sure my son will be waiting for us in the dining hall."

There was a small strain in his tone at the mention of his son and his ear flicked in irritation. He led them down a side hallway and to big wooden doors. As he pushed the wooden doors open to reveal the dining hall, there stood Durrin with a polite smile. "Awe. Father, I was just over seeing the meal. The cook has really outdone himself with a fine feast."

The king eyed his son a moment before nodding and taking a seat at the head of the table. Durrin pulled a chair out and smiled politely at the younger prince. "A seat, my prince. Your guards are welcome to join us."

"Why don't you two sit next to each other. You are betrothed and in Okami tradition, the betrothed are tied together. We are not so medival, of course." The smiled as he piled his plate with some of the various dishes spread out for them. He was all too happy with his son's well mannered behavior. He figured it was a rare opportunity to see it and never expected his son to follow his warning so well. He could finally relax.

"What a splendid idea." Durrin smiled at the smaller prince and gestured to the chairs. "You don't mind, do you?"

Axel gave a nod and followed behind the king, his guards following closely behind him. The prince looked around as he walked, getting a good look at his surroundings. It was strange being in another palace that wasn't his own. As they reached the dining hall, the kitsune shifted his gaze to rest upon the prince, his ears perking forward. This was the first time he'd seen his betrothed, and he had to admit he was quite attractive.

"Of course." He said as he was told to take a seat. His guards just looked at each other. When Axel noticed them not moving, he turned to them with a smile. "Don't be shy, take a seat." He urged them. His attention moved back to the king and prince as they suggested he and the Okami prince sit next to each other. "No, I don't mind." He made his way over, pulling out a chair that was next to Durrin and taking a seat. His guards also took their seats at the table.

"It's a pleasure to finally meet you in person, my name is Axel." The kitsune prince said, a friendly smile crossing his face as he reached his hand out to the okami prince.

The king was only too happy with the way things were working out. The prince, on the other hand, was plotting the demise of the younger prince's innocence. He smiled as he took the kitsune's hand and shook it gently. "My name is Durrin. I have heard so much about your cute stature. So many questioned a union between the princes, but news of your feminine qualities put them at ease."

The king paused to take in the other's words for a moment before nodding in approval and eating his food happily. The prince started to put food on his and the prince's plate as he continued. "A good wife to unite the kingdoms. Even I wondered at first, with concern of an heir. But now I see what they meant and I am sure we will make wonderful heirs together."

Axel shook the other's hand, giving a nod to him as he introduced himself. The words that followed his introduction made a slight blush appear across his face as well as a sheepish expression. "O-Oh..? Feminine qualities... Right." He gave an awkward laugh, glancing over at his guards who kept very straight expressions. Axel supposed he did seem more feminine than the average man, but it didn't seem like he enjoyed being referred to as a woman. "Right..." He said again. "I'm still the prince of the Kitsune though." He said with a smile, making sure to put emphasis on the word "prince" as he said it. He really hadn't thought he'd end up getting betrothed to another man, but he definitely hadn't thought he'd be viewed as the "wife" in a marriage either. Unease came over him as he thought more about the situation. He was sure sex would have to be a thing at some point and the idea made him nervous, so he tried to push the thought out of his mind.

Durrin had a hint of mischief in his eye as he took a bite out of a piece of bacon. He was already finding ammo to use against the pretty little Kitsune. He wouldn't lie, another time and another place, he would be pursuing a long night with the fox. It was in his nature to go for the small and innocent ones. The one before him met his usual standards, but he wondered how the other would fair in a battle for his innocence. The Okami prince regarded the two kitsune guards and watched for a reaction about their prince's treatment. "But you make a lovely bride, my dear prince. Axel.. it is a good name. That is for sure."

He scooted his chair a little closer to the smaller prince and gave him another hundred watt smile. He wanted to milk it so when their vows were said, he could real k y torture the other with a one eighty with his behavior. "You should try the mutton, it is really good."

Axel opened his mouth to say something more, but merely closed it again, deciding against it. He supposed he could just take the Okami prince's comment about making a lively bride as a compliment, as he did seem say it in a friendly manner and complimented his name. His two guards were both eyeing the Okami prince with almost harsh gazes, but they remained quiet. They didn't seem to like seeing their prince being viewed in that way. "Thank you..." Axel said softly, his tail swishing as he glance towards the plate Durrin had made up for him. Being viewed as a "lovely bride" had to be a good thing, didn't it? If they didn't think that, then there'd probably be more conflict between the two races. He and Durrin were the only heirs to their thrones, so if they weren't able to marry, then there wouldn't be a way to properly unite the kingdoms. He knew he had to do this for his people.

The kitsune glanced back at Durrin as he scooted closer, then picked up his fork to cut a piece of the mutton and try it. He chewed it, humming in delight as he nodded his head. "This is delicious." He said approvingly. He was quiet as he took a few more bites of his food, his hunger urging him to do so.

Durrin smirked at the kitsune's guards and winked before turning his complete attention on to the small prince. He nodded his approval about the mutton before offering a bite off his fork. "Try this, it is splendid. We have the best cook in oflur kingdom here. He is a master at his art."

The Okami poured a glass of wine for both of them and sipped his. He had to remind himself to bide his time and wait for the right moment to strike. For now, he would use little things. "I look forward to our time together, Prince Axel."

The guards both narrowed their eyes at the Okami prince, but still said nothing. Axel didn't seem to notice any of this, his attention more on his food. He looked over at Durrin as he offered him a bite off his fork, opening his mouth and taking it off with his teeth. The taste was amazing and he nodded as he chewed. "Mmm..." He glanced over at his guards, his ears perking forward curiously as he notice how annoyed they looked. "It is quite delicious." The kitsune said after he swallowed what was in his mouth, turning his attention back to Durrin.

He watched as the Okami poured some wine for bith of them. "Thank you." He said before he grabbed his to sip some as well. A smile crossed his face. "I look forward to it as well." He said, though he didn't quite mean it. Durrin seemed charming, but the Kitsune was still not completely happy with the idea of marriage. Not only that, but even with how friendly Durrin was being, he couldn't help but get a strange vibe from the Okami. He pushed his feelings aside, reminding himself he needed to do this for his kingdom. He continued to eat and occasionally sip his wine before he sat back, looking satisfied. "Thank you for this lovely meal, it was all quite delicious."

The Okami prince shook his head and held his glass up. He could see the other had an inner battle he was waging and he felt pure pleasure in the thought of crushing the other's spirit. "It is my pleasure, my dear prince Axel."

Durrin set his glass aside and sat back in his chair as his father decided to pipe in. The king was no extraordinary man. He was average as most Okam by nature. He even appeared sturdy and strong. Looking down at the smaller prince, he tapped his chin in thought. "Perhaps we should move the date of the betrothal up?"

Axel smiled to the Okami, then reached over to grab his own glass and took another sip of wine. Setting it down, he eyed his two guards. They still really didn't look too pleased, and he started to wonder what was bothering them so much. Perhaps they just didn't feel too comfortable in the Okami palace? His attention was pulled over to the Okami king as he mentioned moving the betrothal date up. "Oh? If you think that would be best your majesty, I suppose. How much earlier were you thinking?" He asked him.

"Well, since you two get along so well, I thought a sooner betrothal would be perfect. No reason to deat if both parties are so easily by one another." The king noticed his son coughed on his wine and sent him a disapproving look before smiling at the Kitsune prince. "How about three days time? Plenty of time to bring the kingdoms together and plan a wedding ceremony."

Durrin choked on his wine and glared at his father. He couldn't believe the old geezer had planned this. "Father, it is much too soon."

The prince forced a smiled as he tried talking as calmly as possible. "We shouldn't just change plans on a whim. Besides, we still need to get to know each other."

Axel's attention shifted over to Durrin as he choked on his wine. It was clear the Okami prince didn't agree with his father's wishes. The Kitsune turned back to the Okami king. "Three days..? Are you certain that's enough time? I mean, we only just met.." He said, agreeing with Durrin on this one. He knew his own father would most likely agree with the Okami king though. The sooner they could get married and settle, the sooner the two kingdoms could unite as one and put the war behind them. The idea of getting tied down with marriage didn't really sit well with the Kitsune prince though. "It is important for us to unite the kingdoms as quickly as possible, that I do understand. However, if I'm going to be spending the rest of my life with Prince Durrin, I want to be sure we both know each other at least a little better before tying the knot."

"With all due respect, you highness," one guard spoke, "it is your own father's wishes to move the wedding up as soon as possible, correct?"

"Well, yes, but..." Axel started.

"You must keep that in mind. I understand both of you must be a little unsure about the betrothal, but in these three days you could also spend a lot more time with each other. The fact is, this wedding is the only possible way for our kingdoms to unite. Whether you two like each other or not, it is your responsibility to marry and finally bring peace to our people." The guard said.

Axel looked down with a soft sigh. "I understand.."

"Well put..." The king smirked as he returned to his food. He was satisfied with the clear and precise explanation. Leaving no room for the two princes to question his decisions. "You two will wed in three days time and that is final. We should send message to your father."

Durrin rolled his eyes at his father and sighed as he propped his chin in his hand. Figures the old man would have an ace up his sleeve and the Kitsunes would play into his hand. He looked to the other prince and shook his head at the other easily giving in.

"Of course, father. As you wish." The Okami prince grumbled as he drank the rest of his wine in one swig. He would just have to step his pland up. It wouldn't be so bad. "We will be glad to wed sooner."

The Kitsune prince lightly bit his bottom lip as he stared down at his empty plate. Hearing that he only had three more days until the wedding really wasn't what he wanted to hear, but he knew he had no choice but to accept. "Of course, I'll be sure to let my father know." He said softly, then glanced over at Durrin. His ears lowered and he gave a sheepish look as the other prince shook his head, clearly not liking the idea either. Of course, the Okami prince also agreed to his father's proposal despite his obvious disinterest as well. Axel drew in a breath and straightened himself up. "It'll all work out fine. I look forward to getting to know you better, Prince Durrin." The white-haired kitsune said respectfully, managing a sweet smile to the Okami prince.

Durrin turned to the kitsune and smirked as he stood. He had to put his game face on now. He pushed his chair back and stood, bowing. "If you will excuse me, I have a prior engagement to attend to. I shall be done by supper."

"A prior engagement?" The king looked up from his plate a glared at his son, clearly not trusting the prince. "You will take your betrothed along. Seeing as you have such little time to orient yourselves with one another. Besides, no errand is a secret from your spouse."

Durrin grit his teeth as he smiled and stood. His father seemed clever, pulling out all the stops. "Of course, father."

He turned to the younger prince and offered his arm. "Shall we, Prince Axel?"

Axel tilted his head to the side slightly, giving a questioning look as Durrin stood up and stated that he had some prior engagements to attend to. His ears flickered towards the king, who obviously seemed displeased and urged him to take the Kitsune with him. The Kitsune prince seemed to tense a bit, getting uncomfortable vibes from both the Okami king and his son. He felt there was something more going on here that he didn't know about yet, but what could it be? Axel nodded and stood up from his chair, taking Durrin's arm as he offered it to him. The two guards stood up, looking as if they wanted to follow. "Relax, I'll be fine. You can stay out here and wait." Axel told them with a reassuring smile. They slowly sat back down, obviously feeling uncomfortable with letting their prince out of their sight.

Durrin walked steadily on toward the hall and mentally cured his father. Of course the man knew what his engagements entailed. Anyone who knew him, knew he had some bed partner awaiting him through out the day.

With a sigh, the OkamI led the Kitsune toward the stables and through to the pasture. He didn't look down at the Kitsune to check if he was being attentive or not. He simply learned on the fence and whistled. "Have you ridden a horse? They are quite magical creatures."

The older prince waited as a tall white horse with a jet black mane raced across the pastute toward them. He smirked and whistled again. The horse neigh ed as the prince stepped away from Axel and pulled up on the fence. "This is Ghost. He is the horse I received when I was born. A gift from our elders."

Axel was quiet as he walked with Durrin, wondering what was it was he needed to go do. His ears perked up as they made their way to the stables, looking around as he stopped by the fence. "They are magical creatures. I've ridden horses a few times before, but it's been a while." He said, his attention moving to the white horse as it galloped across the field towards them.

"Oh my, he's absolutely beautiful." The Kitsune said as the horse stopped by the fence. He had a smile on his face as he watched Durrin pull up on the fence.

Durrin leaned his head on the great beas and smirked. He hopped the fence and popped his shoulder. "You have never ridden a horse quite like Ghost. Come. My plans have changed for the day. You will ride my most trusted steed."

The Okami grabbed the stud's mane and pulled himself up on the horse's back. He turned to the smaller prince and held out his hand, a smile on his face. "Come on. You can trust me."

The Kitsune watched the other with interest, giving a smile as he told him he was going to ride him. "Bareback? I've never ridden a horse bareback before." He watched Durrin hop onto the horse's back and hold a hand out to him. He seemed a bit nervous, but gave a nod and reached over to take the Okami's hand.

Durrin pulled the kitsune up to him and held him to his chest. The thrill of riding was always exhilarating. Besides, what better way to make the other feel even less in control.

The Okami dug his fingers into the smaller prince's hip and held him firmly. He was going to be sure he had the other's full attention. "Prince Axel, you should hold on tight. Ghost loves to run."

The bigger prince was sure the younger didn't quite expect the rough ride and planned to use it to his advantage.
