I wanted to open a thread about movies, not necessary about asians movies because there are other threads about them but about movies that you like, that made you cry or laugh or inspired you...This idea came after today I watch a deeply touching movie about being homosexual. It's called Prayers for Bobby and it's about being gay in a religious family, gay angst and is filled with sadness...it made me cry a lot. I know that there is a thread called What would you do if your first child would fall in love with a person of the same gender, well the movie is highly related to this question. I sincerely recommend this movie because it would open your mind and your heart. If you have other movies that you find being of quality, please share. Remember, they can be any kind of movies, but make sure you share your opinion

Thanks for starting this thread. It's a great topic! I will definitely look into Prayers for Bobby This movie is called Pay it Forward and it is one of the most heart touching stories I've ever seen. This movie will bring you to tears! It's about an 11 year old boy who gets a school assignment to come up with a plan that will change the world for the better. He names plan "Pay it forward". Which is where the recipient of a favor does a favor for a third party rather than paying the favor back. Every time he does someone a favor, he asks that they do someone a favor as well and the end result is like pyramid. It has a lot of deep and meaningful themes throughout the movie and the ending will make you cry. I recommend it everyone

(i'm in a hard thinking while writing this...) How/What would you feel if you are living with people that uses their own language (which is obviously differ from yours), together in one roof? Is it okay? . .they understand and able to speak your language, they're only using it when making conversations with you, but when they're alone, quiet chit-chat (in the bedroom) or sometimes in an open conversation (just in their circle) inside the house, they uses theirs . .the disadvantage on your part, was that, you don't even know their language . .and you can't even ask them nor to tell them about this cause you know it might hurt their feelings

I've been in situations like that in my school life. It is difficult because you want to get along with everybody at least. You can't deny the fact that you suspect that they could be talking about you or against you. I've learned that the only way you can deal with the situation is to learn the language at least on a survival status...you don't have to be super duper fluent with their language. But then as time went on, I just ignore the most part. I mean, I've enough on my plate as it is than worry about what in the world they're talking about. Because realistically even when we speak the same language, people will always talk about stuffs that will make you feel awkward, nervous, suspicious and even offended. It's not really about the language people speak...it's all about the kind of character that person possesses. You may speak different languages yet he/she can be the most considerate person you've ever met. You will still be able to have a good relationship with this person regardless of the language gap.

erm..it was difficult for me because .i'm is temperament quick-tempered and sensitive.i prefer using mother language for the all good ...hehehhe

I know how you feel-my roommate is Korean and brings over Korean friends frequently, and they're very loud, and only speak Korean. She also stays up all night on the phone when I'm trying to sleep-it's annoying. But, I've just learned to live with it and press on, even though there are times when I want to tell her to shut up. I just get on her nerves back-I know I do it, but she can't complain since I don't.

An earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale hit the sea near Miyagi Prefecture in northeastern Japan Thursday evening (7th April 2011). Authorities issued a tsunami warning, but later lifted it. The tremor caused widespread blackouts in affected areas. But several nuclear plants were shut down in case the tragedy of Fukushima was repeated. Less than a month later, another strong quake hit the island country. The earthquake's epicentre was about 40 km under the sea off the coast of Miyagi prefecture. Official from Meteorological Agency, said, "After the earthquake occurred a tsunami alert was issued for Miyagi, Fukushima, Ibaraki and Iwate. However we later expected there would be no tsunamis and so these alerts and advisories were lifted. Although these alerts and advisories have been lifted, we would like to urge extra caution." As the nuclear crisis of the Fukushima plant remains unsolved, officials took precautionary measures this time. Official, Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency, said, "The Higashidori nuclear power plant of the Tohoku Electric Power Co, Onagawa nuclear plant, Fukushima Daiichi and Daini plants have been stopped due to the earthquake which just occurred." Japan said nuclear power plants in the northeast of the country were safe following the major aftershock. Officials said there were no abnormalities in radiation levels around Onagawa nuclear power plant, where fuel rods are being cooled with just one outside power source. The situation at the crippled Fukushima Daiichi remains stable. The Tokyo Electric Power Company said engineers, who sealed a leak this week that had allowed highly radioactive water into the sea, are pumping nitrogen into one reactor to prevent the risk of a hydrogen gas explosion. On a medical point of view..I think it is completely unnecessary. There is a reason why men have male parts and why women have female parts. When you alter the anatomy, things are bound to get really messed up BIG TIME! You have a whole range of maintenance drugs, repairs and psychiatrist appointments. And when you really analyze it, the whole change only happened at a superficial level. Why? Because STILL the guy cannot get pregnant. You can alter the sex organs but you can't swap the reproductive process. That's the difference. I know of someone who had this radical surgery and he looks like a dude. The kind of dude who does heavy manual labor types. He looks nothing like someone you'd expect who looks like a woman. He told me that he couldn't do it anymore because it was so expensive being a woman. And he couldn't pee normally either. He walks around with a catheter stuck to his body. I actually worried about him. But the deed is done and he can't reverse the process anymore.

No, it is not necessarily to do such a thing... but there are persons who really feel like they have been born in the wrong body. You see, there are lots of gay men that actually feel well as being gay MEN and do not feel the need to become women. But for others I think the situation is not that simple. They do not only love men, but actually do feel like they are women. So, they go further and have a surgery and hormonal threatments that would make them feel they have found their true identity.
